Battery Positive Cable Replacement Sportwagon

Removal Procedure - Rear

    Important: 

       • Always use replacement cables that are of the same type, diameter and length of the cables that you are replacing.
       • Always route the replacement cable the same as the original cable.

  1. Remove the front seat. Refer to Front Seat Replacement - Bucket.
  2. Remove the rear seat cushion. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Replacement.
  3. Remove the rear seat back. Refer to Rear Seat Back Replacement.
  4. Remove the left front floor panel carpet. Refer to Front Floor Panel Carpet Replacement.
  5. Remove the body lock pillar lower trim panel. Refer to Body Lock Pillar Lower Trim Panel Replacement.
  6. Remove the rear end trim finish panel. Refer to Rear End Trim Finish Panel Replacement.
  7. Remove the luggage shade. Refer to Luggage Shade Replacement.
  8. Remove the rear compartment floor panel carpet. Refer to Rear Compartment Floor Panel Carpet Replacement.
  9. Remove the rear compartment side trim panel access hole cover. Refer to Rear Compartment Side Trim Panel Access Hole Cover Replacement.
  10. Remove the load floor stationary panel carpet. Refer to Load Floor Stationary Panel Carpet Replacement.
  11. Remove the load floor front panel carpet. Refer to Load Floor Front Panel Carpet Replacement.
  12. Remove the quarter inner trim finish panel. Refer to Quarter Inner Trim Finish Panel Replacement.
  13. Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.

  14. Disconnect the battery negative cable (1) from the battery (3). Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
  15. Disconnect the battery positive cable (2) from the battery (3).

  16. Object Number: 2056604  Size: SH
  17. Detach the positive cable from the firewall.
  18. Remove the battery positive cable to chassis retaining clips (1).
  19. Remove the battery positive cable to firewall retaining stud (2).
  20. Remove the battery positive cable from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure - Rear


    Object Number: 2056604  Size: SH
  1. Install the battery positive cable to the vehicle.
  2. Install the battery positive cable to firewall retaining stud (2).
  3. Install the battery positive cable to chassis retaining clips (1).
  4. Install the battery positive cable to the firewall.

  5. Object Number: 2110831  Size: SH
  6. Connect the battery positive cable (2) to the battery (3).
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

  8. Connect the battery negative cable (1) to the battery (3). Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

  10. Install the quarter inner trim finish panel. Refer to Quarter Inner Trim Finish Panel Replacement.
  11. Install the load floor front panel carpet. Refer to Load Floor Front Panel Carpet Replacement.
  12. Install the load floor stationary panel carpet. Refer to Load Floor Stationary Panel Carpet Replacement.
  13. Install the rear compartment side trim panel access hole cover. Refer to Rear Compartment Side Trim Panel Access Hole Cover Replacement.
  14. Install the rear compartment floor panel carpet. Refer to Rear Compartment Floor Panel Carpet Replacement.
  15. Install the luggage shade. Refer to Luggage Shade Replacement.
  16. Install the rear end trim finish panel. Refer to Rear End Trim Finish Panel Replacement.
  17. Install the body lock pillar lower trim panel. Refer to Body Lock Pillar Lower Trim Panel Replacement.
  18. Install the left front floor panel carpet. Refer to Front Floor Panel Carpet Replacement.
  19. Install the rear seat back. Refer to Rear Seat Back Replacement.
  20. Install the rear seat cushion. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Replacement.
  21. Install the front seat. Refer to Front Seat Replacement - Bucket.

Removal Procedure - Intermediate

    Important: 

       • Always use replacement cables that are of the same type, diameter and length of the cables that you are replacing.
       • Always route the replacement cable the same as the original cable.

  1. Remove the instrument panel insulator panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side.
  2. Remove the instrument panel outer trim cover. Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover Replacement.
  3. Remove the instrument panel compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement.

  4. Object Number: 2152071  Size: SH
  5. Remove the battery positive cable to firewall retaining stud (1).
  6. Remove the windshield wiper arm. Refer to Windshield Wiper Arm Replacement.
  7. Remove the hood rear seal. Refer to Hood Rear Seal Replacement.
  8. Remove the air inlet grille. Refer to Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement.

  9. Object Number: 2128141  Size: SH
  10. Detach the remote battery positive post cover (2) from the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3).
  11. Important: Remove the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3) by pressing the retaining clips (1) and lifting the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3) upwards.

  12. Remove the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3) from the remote battery positive cable lower protective cover (4).

  13. Object Number: 1958688  Size: SH
  14. Remove the remote battery positive post to battery positive cable retaining bolt (1).
  15. Remove the battery positive cable (2).

Installation Procedure - Intermediate


    Object Number: 1958688  Size: SH
  1. Install the battery positive cable (2) to the remote battery post.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the remote battery positive post to battery positive cable retaining bolt (1).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

    Important: Listen for an audible click from the retaining clip (1) to confirm correct fitting of the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3) to the remote battery positive cable lower protective cover (4).

  5. Install the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3) to the remote battery positive cable lower protective cover (4).
  6. Attach the battery post cover (2) to the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3).
  7. Install the air inlet grille. Refer to Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement.
  8. Install the hood rear seal. Refer to Hood Rear Seal Replacement.
  9. Install the windshield wiper arm. Refer to Windshield Wiper Arm Replacement.

  10. Object Number: 2152071  Size: SH
  11. Install the battery positive cable to firewall retaining stud (1).
  12. Install the instrument panel compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement.
  13. Install the instrument panel outer trim cover. Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover Replacement.
  14. Install the instrument panel insulator panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side.

Removal Procedure - Front (3.6L Engine)

    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
  2. Remove the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement.

  3. Object Number: 2128141  Size: SH
  4. Detach the remote battery positive post cover (2) from the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3).
  5. Important: Remove the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3) by pressing the retaining clip (1) and lifting the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3) upwards.

  6. Remove the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3) from the remote battery positive cable lower protective cover (4).

  7. Object Number: 2020830  Size: SH
  8. Remove the remote battery positive post to battery positive cable retaining bolt (2).
  9. Disconnect the front battery positive cable (3) from the battery post.
  10. Disconnect the rear battery positive cable (1) from the battery post.

  11. Object Number: 1958675  Size: SH
  12. Remove the underhood body electrical centre (UBEC) cover (1).
  13. Remove the front battery positive cable protective cover (3).
  14. Remove the front battery positive cable to UBEC plate retaining nut (5).
  15. Disconnect the front battery positive cable (2) from the UBEC plate (4).

  16. Object Number: 2017928  Size: SH

    Important: Reposition the protective boot on the front battery positive cable (3) to gain access to the front battery positive cable to alternator retaining nut (1).

  17. Remove the front battery positive cable to alternator retaining nut (1).
  18. Disconnect the front battery positive cable (3) from the alternator (2).

  20. Remove the front battery positive cable to chassis retaining clips (2).
  21. Remove the front battery positive cable (1) from the engine compartment.

Installation Procedure - Front (3.6L Engine)


    Object Number: 2020834  Size: SH
  1. Install the front battery positive cable (1) to the engine compartment.
  2. Install the front battery positive cable to chassis retaining clips (2).

  3. Object Number: 2017928  Size: SH
  4. Connect the front battery positive cable (2) to the alternator (3).
  5. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  6. Install the front battery positive cable to alternator retaining nut (1).
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 13 N·m (115 lb in).


    Object Number: 1958675  Size: SH
  8. Connect the front battery positive cable (2) to the UBEC plate (4).
  9. Install the front battery positive cable to the UBEC plate retaining nut (5).
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  11. Install the front battery positive cable protective cover (3) to the positive cable.
  12. Install the UBEC cover (1).

  13. Object Number: 2020830  Size: SH
  14. Connect the rear battery positive cable (1) to the battery post.
  15. Connect the front battery positive cable (3) to the battery post.
  16. Install the remote battery positive post to the battery positive cable retaining bolt (2).
  17. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 15 N·m (13 lb ft).

    Important: Listen for an audible click from the retaining clip (1) to confirm correct fitting of the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3) to the remote battery positive cable lower protective cover (4).

  18. Install the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3) to the remote battery positive cable lower protective cover (4).
  19. Attach the remote battery positive post cover (2) to the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3).
  20. Install the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement.
  21. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.

Removal Procedure - Front (6.0L Engine)

    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
  2. Remove the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement.

  3. Object Number: 2128141  Size: SH
  4. Detach the remote battery positive post cover (2) from the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3).
  5. Important: Remove the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3) by pressing the retaining clip (1) and lifting the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3) upwards.

  6. Remove the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3) from the remote battery positive cable lower protective cover (4).

  7. Object Number: 2020830  Size: SH
  8. Remove the remote battery positive post to battery positive cable retaining bolt (2).
  9. Disconnect the front battery positive cable (3) from the remote battery positive post.
  10. Disconnect the rear battery positive cable (1) from the remote battery positive post.

  11. Object Number: 1958675  Size: SH
  12. Remove the underhood body electrical centre (UBEC) cover (1).
  13. Remove the front battery positive cable protective cover (3).
  14. Remove the front battery positive cable to UBEC plate retaining bolt (5).
  15. Disconnect the front battery positive cable (2) from the UBEC plate (4).

  16. Object Number: 2017929  Size: SH

    Important: Reposition the protective boot on the front battery positive cable (2) to gain access to the front battery positive cable to alternator retaining nut (1).

  17. Remove the front battery positive cable to alternator retaining nut (1).
  18. Remove the front battery positive cable (2) from the alternator (3).

  19. Object Number: 2017930  Size: SH
  20. Remove the front battery positive cable to chassis retaining clips (2).
  21. Remove the front battery positive cable (1) from the engine compartment.

Installation Procedure - Front (6.0L Engine)


    Object Number: 2017930  Size: SH
  1. Install the front battery positive cable (1) to the engine compartment.
  2. Install the front battery positive cable to chassis retaining clips (2).

  3. Object Number: 2017929  Size: SH
  4. Connect the front battery positive cable (2) to the alternator (3).
  5. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  6. Install the front battery positive cable to alternator retaining nut (1).
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 13 N·m (115 lb in).


    Object Number: 1958675  Size: SH
  8. Connect the front battery positive cable (2) to the UBEC plate (4).
  9. Install the front battery positive cable to UBEC plate retaining bolt (5).
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  11. Install the front battery positive cable protective cover (3) to the positive cable.
  12. Install the UBEC cover (1).

  13. Object Number: 2020830  Size: SH
  14. Connect the rear battery positive cable (1) to the remote battery positive post.
  15. Connect the front battery positive cable (3) to the remote battery positive post.
  16. Install the remote battery positive post to battery positive cable retaining bolt (2).
  17. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  18. Install the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3) to the remote battery positive cable lower protective cover (4).
  19. Attach the remote battery positive post cover (2) to the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3).
  20. Install the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement.
  21. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.

Removal Procedure - Starter (3.6L Engine)

    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
  2. Remove the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement.

  3. Object Number: 2128141  Size: SH
  4. Detach the remote battery positive post cover (2) from the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3).
  5. Important: Remove the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3) by pressing the retaining clip (1) and lifting the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3) upwards.

  6. Remove the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3) from the remote battery positive cable lower protective cover (4).

  7. Object Number: 1958688  Size: SH
  8. Remove the remote positive battery post to battery positive cable retaining bolt (1).
  9. Disconnect the starter battery positive cable (2) from the remote positive battery post.
  10. Caution: Refer to Safety Glasses Caution in the Preface section.

    Caution: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in the Preface section.

  11. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.

  12. Object Number: 2017933  Size: SH
  13. Remove the starter battery positive cable to starter motor retaining nut (2).
  14. Disconnect the starter battery positive cable (1) from the starter motor (3).
  15. Lower the vehicle.

  17. Detach the starter battery positive cable (1) from the starter battery positive cable retaining clip (2).
  18. Remove the starter battery positive cable (1) from the engine compartment.

Installation Procedure - Starter (3.6L Engine)


    Object Number: 2017934  Size: SH
  1. Install the starter battery positive cable (1) to the engine compartment.
  2. Attach the starter battery positive cable (1) to the starter battery positive cable retaining clip (2).
  3. Raise the vehicle.

  4. Object Number: 2017933  Size: SH
  5. Connect the starter battery positive cable (1) to the starter motor (3).
  6. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  7. Install the starter battery positive cable to starter motor retaining nut (2).
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 11 N·m (97 lb in).

  9. Lower the vehicle.

  10. Object Number: 1958688  Size: SH
  11. Connect the starter battery positive cable (2) to the remote battery positive post.
  12. Install the remote battery positive post to battery positive cable retaining bolt (1).
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

    Important: Listen for an audible click from the retaining clip (1) to confirm correct fitting of the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3) to the remote battery positive cable lower protective cover (4).

  14. Install the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3) to the remote battery positive cable lower protective cover (4).
  15. Attach the remote battery positive post cover (2) to the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3).
  16. Install the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement.
  17. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.

Removal Procedure - Starter (6.0L Engine)

    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
  2. Remove the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement.

  3. Object Number: 2128141  Size: SH
  4. Detach the remote battery positive post cover (2) from the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3).
  5. Important: Remove the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3) by pressing the retaining clip (1) and lifting the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3) upwards.

  6. Remove the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3) from the remote battery positive cable lower protective cover (4).

  7. Object Number: 1958688  Size: SH
  8. Remove the remote battery positive post to battery positive cable retaining bolt (1).
  9. Disconnect the starter battery positive cable (2) to the remote battery positive post.
  10. Caution: Refer to Safety Glasses Caution in the Preface section.

  11. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  12. Remove the right catalytic converter. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement - Right Side.

  14. Remove the starter motor heat shield to starter motor retaining bolts (1).
  15. Remove the starter motor heat shield (2) from the starter motor.

  16. Object Number: 2017936  Size: SH
  17. Remove the starter battery positive cable to starter motor retaining nut (1).
  18. Disconnect the starter battery positive cable (2) from the starter motor (3).
  19. Lower the vehicle.

  20. Object Number: 2020836  Size: SH
  21. Detach the starter battery positive cable from the chassis retaining clips (2).
  22. Remove the starter battery positive cable (1) from the engine compartment.

Installation Procedure - Starter (6.0L Engine)


    Object Number: 2020836  Size: SH
  1. Install the starter battery positive cable (1) to the engine compartment.
  2. Attach the starter battery positive cable to the chassis retaining clips (2).
  3. Raise the vehicle.

  4. Object Number: 2017936  Size: SH
  5. Connect the starter battery positive cable (2) to the starter motor (3).
  6. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  7. Install the starter battery positive cable to starter motor retaining nut (1).
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 10 N·m (89 lb in).


    Object Number: 1951065  Size: SH
  9. Install the starter motor heat shield to the starter motor (2).
  10. Install the starter motor heat shield to starter motor retaining bolts (1).
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 5 N·m (44 lb in).

  12. Install the right catalytic converter. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement - Right Side.
  13. Lower the vehicle.

  14. Object Number: 1958688  Size: SH
  15. Connect the starter battery positive cable (2) to the remote battery positive post.
  16. Install the remote battery positive post to battery positive cable retaining bolt (2).
  17. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  18. Install the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3) to the remote battery positive cable lower protective cover (4).
  19. Attach the remote battery positive post cover (2) to the remote battery positive cable upper protective cover (3).
  20. Install the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement.
  21. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.

Battery Positive Cable Replacement Sedan

Removal Procedure - Rear

  6. Remove the cargo area centre carpet. Refer to Rear Compartment Floor Panel Carpet Replacement
  7. Remove the left-hand cargo area carpet side. Refer to Rear Compartment Side Trim Panel Replacement
  8. Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.

  9. Disconnect the battery negative cable (1). Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
  10. Disconnect the battery positive cable (2) from the battery.

  11. Object Number: 1949830  Size: SH
  12. Detach the battery post cover (3)..
  13. Press the retaining clip (1) to remove battery post protective cover (4).
  14. Remove the battery post retaining bolt (2).

  15. Object Number: 1949826  Size: SH
  16. Remove the battery positive cable to chassis retaining clips (1).
  17. Remove the battery positive cable from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure - Rear


    Object Number: 1949826  Size: SH
  1. Install the battery positive cable to the vehicle.
  2. Install the battery positive cable to chassis retaining clips (1).
  3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1949830  Size: SH
  4. Install the battery post retaining bolt (2)
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the post retaining bolt to 15 N·m ( 11 lb ft).

  6. Install the battery post protective cover (4).
  7. Attach the battery post cover (3).
  8. Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.

  9. Connect the battery positive cable (2) to the battery.
  10. Connect the battery negative cable (1). Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
  11. Install the rear floor panel carpet. Refer to Rear Compartment Floor Panel Carpet Replacement
  12. Install the rear quarter trim panel. Refer to Quarter Lower Rear Trim Panel Replacement.
  13. Install the left front floor panel carpet. Refer to Front Floor Panel Carpet Replacement.
  14. Install the rear seat back. Refer to Rear Seat Back Replacement.
  15. Install the rear seat cushion. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Replacement.
  16. Install the front seat. Refer to Front Seat Replacement - Bucket.
  17. Install the left-hand cargo area carpet side. Refer to Rear Compartment Side Trim Panel Replacement
  18. Install the cargo area centre carpet. Refer to Rear Compartment Floor Panel Carpet Replacement
  19. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.

Removal Procedure - Front (3.6L Engines)

    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
  2. Remove the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement.

  3. Object Number: 1949830  Size: SH
  4. Detach the battery post cover (3).
  5. Press the retaining clip (1) to remove battery post protective cover (4).
  6. Remove the battery post retaining bolt (2).

  7. Object Number: 1949828  Size: SH
  8. Remove the front battery positive cable from battery post (2).
  9. Remove the front battery positive cable to underhood body electrical centre retaining bolt (1).
  10. Remove the front battery positive cable to alternator retaining nut (4).
  11. Remove the front battery positive cable to chassis retaining clips (3).
  12. Remove the front battery positive cable (5) from the engine compartment.

Installation Procedure - Front (3.6L Engines)


    Object Number: 1949828  Size: SH
  1. Install the front battery positive cable (5) to the engine compartment.
  2. Install the front battery positive cable to chassis retaining clips (3).
  3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  4. Install the front battery positive cable to battery post (2).
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the post retaining bolt to 15 N·m ( 11 lb ft).

  6. Install the battery positive cable to underhood body electrical centre retaining nut (1).
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the retaining nut to 10  N·m( 89 lb in).

  8. Install the battery positive cable to alternator battery output terminal, install the retaining nut (4).
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the retaining nut to 13  N·m ( 115 lb in).

  10. Install the battery post protective cover (4).
  11. Attach the battery post cover (3).
  12. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
  13. Install the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement.

Removal Procedure - Front (6.0L Engines)

    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
  2. Remove the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement.

  4. Detach the battery post cover (3).
  5. Press the retaining clip (1) to remove battery post protective cover (4).
  6. Remove the battery post retaining bolt (2).

  8. Remove the front battery positive cable from battery post (2).
  9. Remove the front battery positive cable to underhood body electrical centre retaining bolt (1).
  10. Remove the front battery positive cable to alternator retaining nut (4).
  11. Remove the front battery positive cable to chassis retaining clips (3).
  12. Remove the front battery positive cable (5) from the engine compartment.

Installation Procedure - Front 6.0L Engines)

  1. Install the front battery positive cable (5) to the engine compartment.
  2. Install the front battery positive cable to chassis retaining clips (3).
  3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  4. Install the front battery positive cable to battery post (2).
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the post retaining bolt to 15 N·m ( 11 lb ft).

  6. Install the battery positive cable to underhood body electrical centre retaining nut (1).
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the retaining nut to 10  N·m( 89 lb in).

  8. Install the battery positive cable to alternator retaining nut (4).
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the retaining nut to 13  N·m ( 115 lb in).

  9. Remove the starter battery positive cable (3) to starter motor retaining bolt (1).
  10. Remove the front battery positive cable to chassis retaining clips.
  11. Remove the starter battery positive cable (3) from the engine compartment.

Installation Procedure - Starter (3.6L Engines)

  1. Install the starter battery positive cable (3) to the engine compartment.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the starter battery positive cable to battery post (2).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the post retaining bolt to 15 N·m ( 11 lb ft).

  5. Install the starter battery positive cable to starter motor and install the retaining nut (1).
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the retaining nut to 20  N·m ( 14 lb ft).

  8. Attach the battery post cover (3).

  2. Remove the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement.

  10. Remove the starter battery positive cable to chassis retaining clips (4).
  11. Remove the starter battery positive cable (3) from the engine compartment.
