Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement RHD

Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable from the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  2. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  3. Remove the I/P compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement .
  4. Remove the trim panel - (I/P) Upper. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel Replacement .
  5. • Trim Panel - (I/P) Upper : (with secondary information centre SIC)
    • Trim Panel - (I/P) Upper : (with multi function display)
  6. Remove the outer trim covers. Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover Replacement .
  7. Remove the ventilation trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Side Trim Panel Replacement .
  8. Remove the trim plate - console side. Refer to Console Trim Plate Replacement .
  9. Remove the instrument panel trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Center Trim Panel Replacement .
  10. Remove the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
  11. Remove the defroster grille. Refer to Defroster Grille Replacement .
  12. Remove the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement .
  13. Remove the trim panel - I/P centre. Refer to Instrument Panel Center Trim Panel Replacement .
  14. Remove the I/P centre speaker. Refer to Radio Front Speaker Replacement .

  16. Remove the lower air duct (2) retaining clips (1).
  17. Remove the lower air duct (2).

  18. Object Number: 1957153  Size: SH
  19. Release the air bag (3) electrical connector retaining clip (1) and disconnect the electrical connector (2).

  20. Object Number: 1957156  Size: SH
  21. Release the air bag (3) electrical connector retaining clip (1) and disconnect the electrical connector (2).

  23. Remove the air bag to I/P trim pad retaining nuts (1).

  25. Remove the I/P carrier to I/P pad outer retaining screws (1).

  27. Remove the left hand tweeter (1) to I/P pad retaining screw (2).
  28. Remove the I/P pad retaining screw (3).

  29. Object Number: 1957168  Size: SH
  30. Disconnect the left hand tweeter (2) electrical connector (1).
  31. Remove the left hand tweeter (2).

  32. Object Number: 1957170  Size: SH
  33. Remove the top I/P pad to I/P carrier retaining screws (1).

  35. Remove the right hand tweeter (3) to I/P pad retaining screw (2).
  36. Remove the I/P pad to I/P carrier retaining screw (1).

  37. Object Number: 1957174  Size: SH
  38. Disconnect the right hand tweeter (1) electrical connector (2).
  39. Remove the right hand tweeter (1).

  40. Object Number: 1957176  Size: SH
  41. Remove the I/P carrier to I/P pad outer retaining screws (1).

  42. Object Number: 1957177  Size: SH
  43. Remove the Instrument cluster housing to I/P pad retaining screws (1).
  44. Notice: Refer to General Repair Instructions in the Preface section.

  45. Remove the centre console fresh air vent outlet (1).

  46. Object Number: 1957180  Size: SH
  47. Detach the headliner main wiring harness connector (1).
  48. Important: The removal of the I/P pad must be done with the aid if an assistant under no circumstances must it be removed by one person.

  49. Remove the I/P pad.
  50. Remove datum four pins from vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Place the I/P pad on a clean and suitable work surface.

  2. Object Number: 1957182  Size: SH
  3. Install the four datum pins (2) to the I/P pad (1).
  4. Secure the datum pins (2) using the datum pin retaining screws (3).
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the screws (3) to 2  N·m (18 lb in).

    Important: Before installing the I/Ppad, ensure all electrical connectors are correctly positioned.

  6. Install the I/P pad to the vehicle.

    Headliner main harness connector: If difficulty is found securing the harness connector to the I/P pad, bring the I/P pad towards the steering wheel to gain access.

  8. Secure the headliner main wiring harness connector (1).

  10. Install the centre console fresh air vent outlet (1).
  11. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  12. Install the Instrument cluster to I/P pad retaining screws (1).
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the screws (1) to 2  N·m (18 lb in).

  14. Install the I/P carrier to I/P pad outer retaining screws (1).
  15. Tighten
    Tighten the screws (1) to 2  N·m (18 lb in).

  16. Connect the right hand tweeter (1) electrical connector (2).
  17. Install the right hand tweeter (2).
  18. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  19. Install the right hand tweeter (3) to I/P pad retaining screw (2).
  20. Tighten
    Tighten the screws (2) to 2  N·m (18 lb in).

  21. Install the I/P pad to I/P carrier retaining screw (1).
  22. Tighten
    Tighten the screws (1) to 2  N·m (18 lb in).

  23. Install the top I/Ppad to I/P carrier retaining screws (1).
  24. Tighten
    Tighten the screws (1) to 2  N·m (18 lb in).

  25. Connect the left hand tweeter (2) electrical connector (1).
  26. Install the left hand tweeter (2).
  27. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  28. Install the left hand tweeter (1) to I/P pad retaining screw (2).
  29. Tighten
    Tighten the screw (2) to 2  N·m (18 lb in).

  30. Install the I/P pad retaining screw (3).
  31. Tighten
    Tighten the screws (3) to 2  N·m (18 lb in).

  32. Install the I/P carrier to I/P pad outer retaining screws (1).
  33. Tighten
    Tighten the screws (1) to 2  N·m (18 lb in).

  34. Install the air bag to I/P trim pad retaining nuts (1).
  35. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 16  N·m (12 lb ft).

  36. Install the air bag (3) electrical connector (2) and secure by inserting the electrical connector retaining clip (1).

  37. Object Number: 1957153  Size: SH
  38. Install the air bag (3) electrical connector (2) and secure by inserting the electrical connector retaining clip (1).

  40. Install the lower air duct (2).
  41. Install the lower air duct (2) retaining clip (1).
  42. Install the I/P centre speaker. Refer to Radio Front Speaker Replacement .
  43. Install the trim panel - I/P centre. Refer to Instrument Panel Center Trim Panel Replacement .
  44. Install the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement .
  45. Install the defroster grille. Refer to Defroster Grille Replacement .
  46. Instal the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
  47. Install the instrument panel trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Center Trim Panel Replacement .
  48. Install the trim plate - console side. Refer to Console Trim Plate Replacement .
  49. Install the ventilation trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Side Trim Panel Replacement
  50. Install the outer trim covers. Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover Replacement .
  51. Install the trim panel - (I/P) Upper. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel Replacement .
  52. • Trim Panel - (I/P) Upper : (with secondary information centre SIC)
    • Trim Panel - (I/P) Upper : (with multi function display)
  53. Install the I/P compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement .
  54. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  55. Connect the battery ground cable to the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  56. Test all electrical components for correct operation.
