Generator Replacement 2.0L Diesel LLW

Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement.
  2. Remove the air cleaner outlet front duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Front Duct Replacement.
  3. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Generator and Air Conditioning Compressor and Power Steering Pump Belt Replacement.
  4. Remove the radiator. Refer to Radiator Replacement.
  5. Remove the air conditioning condenser. Refer to Air Conditioning Condenser Replacement.
  6. Remove the charge air cooler. Refer to Charge Air Cooler Replacement.

  7. Disconnect the generator wiring harness plug (1) from the generator (2).

    8. Object Number: 2027757 Size: SH
  8. Remove the rubber cap (3) from the positive cable generator connector.
  9. Remove the positive cable nut (2) from generator (4).
  10. Remove the positive cable (1) from generator (4).

    11. Object Number: 2027811 Size: SH
  11. Remove the upper generator bolt (2).
  12. Remove the generator nut (4) and lower generator bolt (3).
  13. Remove the generator (1).

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 2027811 Size: SH
  1. Install the generator (1).

    2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  2. Install the generator nut (4) and lower generator bolt (3) and tighten to  58 N·m (43 lb ft).
  3. Install the upper generator bolt (2) and tighten to  58 N·m (43 lb ft).

    4. Object Number: 2027757 Size: SH
  4. Install the positive cable (1) at the generator (4).
  5. Install the positive cable nut (2) at the generator (4) and tighten to  9 N·m (80 lb in).
  6. Install the rubber cap (3) at the positive cable generator connector.

    7. Object Number: 2027803 Size: SH
  7. Connect the generator wiring harness plug (1) at the generator (2).
  8. Install the charge air cooler. Refer to Charge Air Cooler Replacement.
  9. Install the air conditioning condenser. Refer to Air Conditioning Condenser Replacement.
  10. Install the radiator. Refer to Radiator Replacement.
  11. Install the drive belt. Refer to Generator and Air Conditioning Compressor and Power Steering Pump Belt Replacement.
  12. Install the air cleaner outlet front duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Front Duct Replacement.
  13. Install the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement.

Generator Replacement 1.6L LXV

Removal Procedure
  1. Open the hood.
  2. Disconnect the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
  3. Remove the generator and air conditioning compressor belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement.

    4. Object Number: 2027791 Size: SH
  4. Remove the 2 generator wiring harness nuts (1, 2).

    5. Object Number: 2027790 Size: SH
  5. Remove the 2 generator bolts (2).
  6. Remove the generator (1).

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 2027790 Size: SH
  1. Install the generator (1).

    2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  2. Install the 2 generator bolts (2) and tighten to  35 N·m (26 lb ft).

    3. Object Number: 2027791 Size: SH
  3. Install the 2 generator wiring harness nuts and tighten to  7 N·m (62 lb in) (1, 2).
  4. Install the generator and air conditioning compressor belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement.
  5. Connect negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
  6. Close the hood.
