DEFINITION: The driver or passenger heated seat is inoperative.

Did you review the Heated Seat System Description and Operation and perform the necessary inspections?

  1. Turn ON the ignition.
  2. Turn the heated seat switch ON.

Does the heated seat operate properly?

Does the heated seat switch indicator illuminate when the switch is turned ON?

Test the heated seat switch ignition voltage supply circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the heated seat switch ground circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Disconnect the heated seat cushion 4-way connector.
  2. Connect a test lamp from the heated seat switch signal circuit terminal in the harness connector to ground.
  3. Turn ON the ignition.
  4. Turn the heated seat switch ON.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Test the heated seat battery positive voltage supply circuit for an open or short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the heated seat ground circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Disconnect the heated seat back element connector.
  2. Measure the resistance of the heated seat back element. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.

Is the resistance within the specified values?

0.5-2 ohms

Test the heated seat switch signal circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
