EN-48250 Crankshaft Front Oil Seal Installer

Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1820433 Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement .
  3. Remove the charge air system hoses and ducts. Refer to Charge Air Cooler Inlet Pipe and Outlet Pipe Replacement .
  4. Remove the accessory belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .

  5. Remove the engine mount damping block. Refer to Engine Mount Replacement - Right Side .
  6. Drain the engine oil.
  7. Remove the timing belt. Refer to Timing Belt Replacement .

    8. Object Number: 1820441 Size: SH
  8. Remove the timing belt idler.
  9. Remove the injection pump sprocket.
  10. Remove the timing belt rear cover.
  11. Remove the crankshaft sprocket.
  12. Disconnect the engine oil pressure switch connector.

    13. Object Number: 1822587 Size: SH
  13. Disconnect the engine oil cooler inlet/outlet hoses. Refer to Oil Filter Adapter and Oil Cooler Assembly Replacement .
  14. Remove the engine oil pump assembly.

Cleaning Procedure

  1. Clean the oil pump sealing surface.
  2. Clean the engine block sealing surface.
  3. Clean the oil pump tightening bolts.
  4. Clean the oil pump bolt holes.

Installation Procedure

  1. Coat the sealant (LOCTITE 5900) on the oil pump sealing surface.

    2. Object Number: 1822592 Size: SH
  2. Install the oil pump assembly with a new oil pump seal.

    3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

    Important: If the crankshaft front oil seal is damaged, replace it with new oil seal. When installing the crankshaft front oil seal to the oil pump, make the oil seal groove faced toward the oil pump case contact.

  3. Install the crankshaft front seal ring using EN-48250 .

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the oil pump tightening bolts to 24 N·m (17.7 lb ft).

  4. Install the timing belt rear cover.
  5. Install the injection pump sprocket.
  6. Install the timing belt idler.

    7. Tighten

        • Tighten the timing belt rear cover bolts to 11 N·m (97.4 lb in).
        • Tighten the injection pump sprocket nut to 70 N·m (51.6 lb in).
        • Tighten the timing belt idler retaining bolt to 52 N·m (38.4 lb in).

  7. Install the crankshaft sprocket.

    8. Tighten
    Tighten the crankshaft sprocket nut to 235 N·m (173.3 lb ft).
