Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery ground cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  3. Remove the right front tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  4. Remove the right (rear) engine mount bracket. Refer to Engine Mount Bracket Replacement - Right Side in Engine Mechanical - 3.5L.

  5. Object Number: 289514  Size: SH
  6. Remove the transaxle brace bolts from the transaxle and engine block.
  7. Remove the transaxle brace.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the transaxle brace.
  2. Hand start the bolts to the engine block and oil pan.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the bolts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the transaxle brace bolts to 43 N·m (32 lb ft).

  6. Install the right (rear) engine mount bracket. Refer to Engine Mount Bracket Replacement - Right Side in Engine Mechanical - 3.5L.
  7. Install the right front tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  8. Lower the vehicle.
  9. Connect the battery ground (negative) cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
