Important: Review the system operation in order to familiarize yourself with the system functions.

Visual/Physical Inspection

    • Inspect for aftermarket devices which may affect the operation of the instrument panel system. Refer to Checking Aftermarket Accessories in Wiring Systems.
    • Inspect the easily accessible or visible system components for obvious damage or conditions which may cause the symptom.

Intermittent

Faulty electrical connections or wiring may be the cause of intermittent conditions. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems.

Symptom List

Refer to a symptom diagnostic procedure from the following list in order to diagnose the symptom:

    •  Engine Coolant Temperature Gage Inaccurate or Inoperative
    •  Fuel Gage Inaccurate or Inoperative
    •  Gages Inoperative - All
    •  Odometer Does Not Switch Between Trip and Season
    •  Speedometer and/or Odometer Inoperative
    •  Tachometer Inaccurate
    •  Tachometer Inoperative
    •  CHANGE ENGINE OIL Message Always On
    •  CHANGE ENGINE OIL Message Inoperative
    •  CHECK COOLANT TEMP Message Always On
    •  CHECK ENG OIL LEVEL Message Always On
    •  ENGINE OIL PRESSURE Message Always On
    •  Low Engine Coolant Indicator Inoperative
    •  Low Fluid Level Indicator Inoperative
    •  LOW FUEL Message Always On
    •  LOW FUEL Message Inoperative
    •  PRNDL Display Inaccurate or Inoperative
    •  TRUNK AJAR Message Always On
