Instrument Cluster Trim Panel Replacement Buick

1. Remove the left IP end cap. Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover Replacement - Left Side .
2. Remove the right IP end cap. Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover Replacement - Right Side .
3. Remove the trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Center Trim Panel Replacement .
4. Remove the defroster grille. Refer to Defroster Grille Replacement .
5. Remove the windshield garnish moldings. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement in Interior Trim.
6. Tilt the steering wheel to the down position.
7. Remove the upper trim pad. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement .



8. Remove the fasteners (1) that retain the trim plate to the carrier.
9. Disconnect the electrical connectors  (2).
10. Remove the trim plate.

1. Partially install the trim plate.



2. Connect the electrical connectors  (2).

Align the trim plate to the IP.

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

3. Install the fasteners (1) to the trim plate.

Tighten
Tighten the fasteners to 1.9 N·m (17 lb in).

4. Install the upper trim pad. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement .
5. Install the windshield garnish moldings. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement in Interior Trim.
6. Install the defroster grille. Refer to Defroster Grille Replacement .
7. Install the trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Center Trim Panel Replacement .
8. Install the right IP end cap. Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover Replacement - Right Side .
9. Install the left IP end cap. Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover Replacement - Left Side .
10. Adjust the tilt steering wheel to the original position.

Instrument Cluster Trim Panel Replacement Oldsmobile

1. Remove the rear compartment lid/fuel filler door release switch assembly. Refer to Fuel/Rear Compartment Release Switch Replacement .
2. Remove the interior lamp switch assembly. Refer to Twilight Sentinel Switch Replacement in Lighting Systems.



3. Partially remove the instrument cluster trim plate (2) by carefully pulling the plate rearward.
4. Disconnect the electrical connectors (5) from the trim plate (2).
5. Remove the trim plate (2).
6. Remove the fog lamp switch (4), if necessary, by releasing the retaining tabs.
7. Remove the power mirror switch, if necessary. Refer to Power Mirror Switch Replacement .

1. Install the fog lamp switch (4) to the cluster trim plate (2), if necessary.
2. Install the power mirror switch, if necessary. Refer to Power Mirror Switch Replacement .
3. Connect the electrical connectors (5).
4. Insert the tabs (1) into the retainers (6) in order to install the trim plate (2) to the instrument panel.
5. Apply pressure until the trim plate (2) is fully seated.
6. Install the interior lamp switch assembly. Refer to Twilight Sentinel Switch Replacement in Lighting Systems.
7. Install the rear compartment lid/fuel filler door release switch assembly. Refer to Fuel/Rear Compartment Release Switch Replacement .
