Key-in-Ignition Chime Inoperative Domestic

  1. Disconnect the connector at the multi-function alarm module.
  2. Place the key in the ignition switch.
  3. Open the driver's side door.
  4. Connect a J 39200 DMM between the multi-function alarm module connector, cavity C1 for CKT 80 (LT GRN), and ground.

Is continuity present?

Replace the multi-function alarm module. Refer to Multifunction Alarm Module Replacement .

Is the key-in-ignition chime operative?

--

Go to Audible Warnings System Check

  1. Disconnect connector C200 at the steering column.
  2. Connect a J 39200 DMM between cavity B3 for the pigtail wire of CKT 80 (LT GRN), and cavity B4 for the pigtail wire of CKT 159 (TAN), OF connector C200.

Is continuity present?

--

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 4

Repair the open in the pigtail wire of CKT 80 (LT GRN) or CKT 159 (TAN).

Is the key-in-ignition chime operative?

--

Go to Audible Warnings System Check

Go to Step 5

Replace the key-in warning switch.

Is the key-in-ignition chime operative?

--

Go to Audible Warnings System Check

  1. Disconnect the connector at the left front door jamb switch.
  2. Connect a J 39200 DMM between connector C200, cavity B4, and the left front door jamb switch connector, cavity C, for CKT 159 (TAN).

Is continuity present?

--

Go to Step 8

Repair the open in CKT 159 (TAN) between connector C200 and the left front door jamb switch.

Is the key-in-ignition chime operative?

--

Go to Audible Warnings System Check

Connect a J 39200 DMM between the left front door jamb switch connector cavity D for CKT 150 (BLK), and ground.

Is continuity present?

--

Go to Step 9

Go to Step 10

Replace the left front door jamb switch.

Is the key-in-ignition chime operative?

--

Go to Audible Warnings System Check

Repair the open in CKT 150 (BLK) between the left front door jamb switch and ground G200 (upfitter package), or ground G201 (base vehicle.)

  1. Disconnect connector C1 at at the multifunction alarm module.
  2. Disconnect connector C200 at the steering column.
  3. connect a J 39200 DMM between multifunction alarm module connector C1 cavity C1 on CKT 80 (LT GRN) and a known good ground.

Is continuity present?

Locate and repair the short to ground on CKT 80 (LT GRN) between the multifunction alarm module and connector C200.

Is the repair complete?

--

Go to Audible Warnings System Check

Reconnect connector C1 at the multifunction alarm module.

Is the alarm present?

--

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 6

Replace the multifunction alarm module.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Ensure that the key is not in the ignition switch.
  2. Ensure that the driver's side door is closed.
  3. Connect a J 39200 DMM M between connector C200 cavity B3 on CKT 80 (LT GRN) and a known good ground.

Is continuity present?

Locate and repair the short to ground in CKT 80 (LT GRN) in the steering column.

Is the repair complete?

--

Go to Audible Warnings System Check

Connect a J 39200 DMM between connector C200 cavity B4 for CKT 159 (TAN) and a known good ground.

Is continuity present?

--

Go to Step 9

Locate and repair the short to ground in CKT 159 (TAN) in the steering column.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Audible Warnings System Check

Connect a J 39200 DMM between Key-in warning switch CKT 80 (LT GRN) pigtail lead and CKT 159 (TAN) pigtail lead.

Is continuity present?

--

Go to Step 11

Replace the key-in warning switch.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Disconnect connector C2 at the multifunction alarm module.
  2. Disconnect the connector at the left front door jamb switch.
  3. Connect a J 39200 DMM between the left front door jamb switch connector cavity C on CKT 159 (TAN) and a known good ground.

Is continuity present?

--

Go to Step 13

Locate and repair the short to ground in CKT 159 (TAN) between connector C200 and the left front door jamb switch.

Is the repair complete?

--

Go to Audible Warnings System Check

Replace the left front door jamb switch.

Is the repair complete?
