Did you perform the Instrument Cluster System Check?

  1. Disconnect the oil pressure switch and sender.
  2. Connect 1 red lead of a J 33431-C to the oil pressure switch and sender CKT 331 (TAN/WHT) cavity A of the oil pressure switch and sender and the other lead to ground.
  3. Place the ignition switch in the RUN position.
  4. Adjust the resistance dial to 0ohms.
  5. The oil gauge should indicate low pressure around 0.
  6. Adjust the resistance dial to 90ohms.
  7. The oil gauge should indicate high pressure around 80.

Does the oil gauge indicate correctly?

Replace the oil pressure switch and sender. Refer to Engine Oil Pressure Sensor and/or Switch Replacement in Engine Mechanical.

Inspect for an open in CKT 331 (TAN/WHT) between the oil pressure switch and sender and the instrument cluster.

Did you find an open?

Go to Step 5

Repair the open in CKT 331 (TAN/WHT) between the oil pressure switch and sender and the instrument cluster.

Replace the oil pressure gauge. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
