Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the fuel tank shield. Refer to Fuel Tank Shield Replacement .
  3. If vehicle is a short wheel base (TrailBlazer, Envoy, Bravada, Rainier), remove the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister from its mounting bracket. Do not disconnect the canister lines. Refer to Evaporative Emission Canister Replacement in Engine Controls.
  4. Support the transmission with a transmission jack.

  5. Object Number: 744176  Size: SH
  6. Remove the transmission mount to the transmission support retaining nuts.

  7. Object Number: 745746  Size: SH
  8. Remove the lower transmission support to the frame mounting bolts.

  9. Object Number: 752138  Size: SH
  10. Remove the upper transmission support to the frame mounting bolts.
  11. Remove the transmission support from the frame.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 752138  Size: SH
  1. Install the transmission support to the frame.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the upper transmission support to the frame mounting bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the upper transmission support to the frame mounting bolts to 80 N·m (59 lb ft).

  5. Install the lower transmission support to the frame mounting bolts.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  7. Lower the transmission onto the transmission support.

  8. Object Number: 744176  Size: SH
  9. Install the transmission mount to the transmission support retaining nuts.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the transmission mount to the transmission support retaining nuts to 46 N·m (35 lb ft).

  11. If vehicle is a short wheel base (TrailBlazer, Envoy, Bravada, Rainier), install the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister. Refer to Evaporative Emission Canister Replacement in Engine Controls.
  12. Install the fuel tank shield. Refer to Fuel Tank Shield Replacement .
  13. Lower the vehicle.
