Open the liftgate or liftglass.

Is the tail gate alarm indicator illuminated?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF.
  3. With a scan tool, observe the liftglass jamb switch parameter in the liftgate control module (LGM) data list.

Does the scan tool display active?

Go to Step 10

  1. Disconnect the liftgate ajar jamb switch.
  2. Connect a fused jumper between the liftgate ajar jamb switch signal circuit and a good ground.

Does the scan tool display active?

Go to Step 5

Connect a fused jumper between the liftgate ajar jamb switch signal circuit and the liftgate ajar jamb switch ground circuit.

Does the scan tool display active?

Go to Step 8

Test the liftgate ajar jamb switch signal circuit for a high resistance or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Repair the open or high resistance in the ground circuit of the liftgate ajar jamb switch circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the liftgate ajar jamb switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the liftgate control module (LGM). Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the instrument panel cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
