Diagnostic Aids

The power sliding door is designed to stop and reverse direction when an obstruction is present. Proper mechanical operation of the power sliding door is necessary for power open and close functions to occur.

    • Manually open and close the power sliding door slowly in order to determine if the door operates smoothly and without excessive resistance.
    • Clean and lubricate or replace the tracks as necessary and verify proper power sliding door cable tension.
    • Inspect the optical sensor connector and terminals for damage.
    • Inspect the optical sensor pigtail harness for damage.
    • Inspect the optical sensor for proper installation and a secure mount to the actuator motor housing.

Test Description

The number(s) below refer to the step number(s) on the diagnostic table.

  1. Tests the rear side door actuator control module for the optical sensor 5 volt reference and ground.

  2. Tests the optical sensor signal circuit. While the door is moving at the approximate power operating speed the average voltage measured should be 2 to 3 volts.

  3. Tests the optical sensor signal circuit. While the door is moving at the approximate power operating speed the average voltage measured should be 2 to 3 volts.
