Removal Procedure

  1. Disable the SIR System. Refer to Disabling the SIR System .

  2. Object Number: 712793  Size: SH
  3. Remove the passenger side instrument panel (I/P) access panel.

  4. Object Number: 762389  Size: SH
  5. Remove the passenger air duct extension screw (1).

  6. Object Number: 762387  Size: SH
  7. Remove the air duct extension from the front of the I/P.

  8. Object Number: 762390  Size: SH
  9. Open the I/P compartment door to a full down position.
  10. Remove the 2  lower passenger supplemental inflatable restraint (PSIR) inflator module retaining bolts (1).

  11. Object Number: 846922  Size: SH
  12. Remove the 2 side retaining nuts from the PSIR inflator module.

  13. Object Number: 742163  Size: SH
  14. Remove the PSIR inflator module from the front of the I/P carrier.
  15. Fully deploy the module before disposal. If the module was replaced under warranty, fully deploy and dispose of the module after the required retention period. Refer to Inflator Module Handling and Scrapping .

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 742163  Size: SH
  1. Install the PSIR inflator module to the front of the I/P carrier.

  2. Object Number: 846922  Size: SH
  3. Install the 2 side retaining nuts to the PSIR inflator module.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts until fully driven, seated and not stripped.


    Object Number: 762390  Size: SH
  5. Install the 2 retaining bolts (1) to the PSIR inflator module.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts until fully driven, seated and not stripped.


    Object Number: 762387  Size: SH
  7. Install the passenger air duct extension though the front of the I/P.

  8. Object Number: 762389  Size: SH
  9. Install the passenger air duct extension screw (1).
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the screw to 2.5 N·m (22 lb in).

  11. Close the I/P compartment door.

  12. Object Number: 712793  Size: SH
  13. Install the passenger side I/P access panel.
  14. Enable the SIR System. Refer to Enabling the SIR System .
