Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

Verify that the door ajar indicator malfunction fault is present.

Does the door ajar indicator operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Is the door ajar indicator ON all the time?

Go to Step 4

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Close all of the doors.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. With a scan tool, observe the driver door open switch and the door ajar switches parameters in the body control module (BCM) data list.

Does the scan tool display Open for either of the parameters?

Go to Step 5

Was the Open parameter the driver door open Switch parameter?

Go to Step 6

  1. With a scan tool, observe the driver door open switch parameter in the BCM data list.
  2. Disconnect the driver door lock C1 harness connector.

Does the scan tool display Closed when the harness connector is disconnected?

Go to Step 17

  1. With a scan tool, observe the Door Ajar Switches parameter in the BCM data list.
  2. Disconnect each of the passenger door lock C1 harness connectors, one at a time.

Does the scan tool display Closed when any of the harness connectors is disconnected?

Go to Step 17

Is the door ajar indicator inoperative from the driver door?

Go to Step 9

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the driver door lock C1 harness connector.
  3. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between the driver door ajar switch signal circuit of the driver door lock C1 harness connector and the ground circuit of the driver door lock C1 harness connector.

Does the door ajar indicator illuminate?

Go to Step 13

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the inoperative passenger door lock C1 harness connector.
  3. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between the door open switch signal circuit and the ground circuit.

Does the door ajar indicator illuminate?

Test the driver door ajar switch signal circuit of the driver door lock C1 harness connector for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the door open switch signal circuit of the inoperative door lock C1 harness connector for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the ground circuit of the inoperative door lock for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the driver door ajar switch signal circuit of the driver door lock C1 harness connector for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connectors of the instrument panel cluster (IPC). Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
