Front Side Door Lock Replacement Impala

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 308342  Size: MH
  1. Remove the front door trim panel. Refer to Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .
  2. Remove the front door water deflector. Refer to Front Side Door Water Deflector Replacement .
  3. Remove the front door inside handle rods from the front door inside handle.
  4. Remove the clip securing the front door inside handle rods to the front door.
  5. Remove the outside handle rod-to-lock clip from the lock .

  7. Remove the screws (1) securing the lock to the front door.
  8. Remove the lock from the front door with the inside handle rods attached to the lock.
  9. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  10. Remove the front door inside handle rods from the lock.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 308342  Size: MH
  1. Install the front door inside handle rods to the lock.
  2. Install the front door lock in the position through the access hole in the front door inner panel.
  3. Connect the electrical connectors.

  4. Object Number: 308343  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the front door lock screws in the proper fastener tightening sequence: top (1), bottom (2), middle (3).
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the front door lock screws to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  7. Install a NEW outside handle rod-to-lock clip onto the front door lock lever.
  8. 5.1. Position the front door outside door handle rod in the clip to eliminate any free play in the front door outside door handle.
    5.2. Install the clip cover closed over the threaded front door outside door handle rod.
  9. Install the clip to the front door inside handle rods.
  10. Install the front door handle rods to the handle.
  11. Install the front door water deflector. Refer to Front Side Door Water Deflector Replacement .
  12. Install the front door trim panel. Refer to Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .
  13. Inspect the door lock system for the proper operation.

Front Side Door Lock Replacement Monte Carlo

Removal Procedure

  1. Position the window completely up.

  2. Object Number: 308342  Size: MH
  3. Remove the front door trim panel. Refer to Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .
  4. Remove the front door water deflector. Refer to Front Side Door Water Deflector Replacement .
  5. Remove the inner energy absorber. Refer to Front Door Energy Absorber Pad Replacement .
  6. Remove the front door inside handle rods from the front door inside handle.
  7. Remove the window channel retainer screw.
  8. Remove the window channel from the door.
  9. Remove the clip securing the inside handle rods to the door.
  10. Remove the outside handle rod-to-lock clip from the lock .

  12. Remove the screws (1, 2, 3) securing the lock to the front door.
  13. Remove the front door lock from the front door with the inside door handle rods attached to the lock.
  14. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  15. Remove the front door inside door handle rods from the front door lock.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the front door inside handle rods to the lock.
  2. Install the front door lock in the position through the access hole in the front door inner panel.
  3. Connect the electrical connectors.

  7. Install a NEW front door outside handle rod-to-lock clip onto the front door lock lever.
  8. 5.1. Position the front door outside door handle rod in the clip to eliminate any free play in the outside door handle.
    5.2. Install the clip cover closed over the threaded outside door handle rod.
  9. Install the clip to the front door inside handle rods.
  10. Install the handle rods to the handle.
  11. Install the window channel in the door.
  12. Install the window channel retainer screw.
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the door lock screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  14. Install the inner energy absorber. Refer to Front Door Energy Absorber Pad Replacement .
  15. Install the front door water deflector. Refer to Front Side Door Water Deflector Replacement .
  16. Install the front door trim panel. Refer to Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .
  17. Inspect the lock system for the proper operation.
