Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement Monte Carlo

Tools Required

J 38778 Door Trim Pad Clip Remover

1. Remove the screw from the upper door trim panel.



2. Remove the screws from the front door pull handle.
3. Remove the front door handle trim bezel. Refer to Door Inside Handle Bezel Replacement .




Important: Support the front door trim panel until the power mirror switch and/or power window switch is removed.

4. Remove the front door trim panel from the front door inner panel using the J 38778 in order to disengage the fasteners from the door inner panel.
5. Disconnect and reposition the electrical connectors from the front door panel. Refer to the following procedures:

•	Power Mirror Switch Replacement

•	Front Side Door Window Switch Replacement

6. Remove the front door trim panel from the vehicle.

Important: Before installing the front door trim panel to the front door inner panel, the old trim panel retainers MUST be discarded and replaced with NEW trim panel retainers.




1. Install the new trim panel retainers to the front door trim panel.
2. Route the door lock electrical connector through the handle bezel opening.
3. Connect and reposition the electrical connectors to the front door panel. Refer to the following procedures:

•	Power Mirror Switch Replacement

•	Front Side Door Window Switch Replacement

4. Align the front door trim panel to the front door inner panel, guiding the front door handle through the trim panel.
5. Install the upper edge of the front door trim panel to the top of the inner door panel, firmly pressing down until the trim panel edge seats in the retainer clips.
6. Align the locator pins on the front door trim panel to the front door inner panel.
7. Install the front door trim panel by firmly pressing the retainer clips until the clips are fully seated around the perimeter of the trim panel.




Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

8. Install the screw to the upper door trim panel.

Tighten
Tighten the screw to the upper door trim panel to 2 N·m (18 lb in).




9. Install the screws to the front door pull handle.

Tighten
Tighten the screws to the front door pull handle to 3.5 N·m (31 lb in).

10. Install the front door handle trim bezel. Refer to Door Inside Handle Bezel Replacement .

Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement Impala

Tools Required

J 38778 Door Trim Pad Clip Remover

1. Remove the trim bezel from the front door handle. Refer to Door Inside Handle Bezel Replacement .
2. Remove the front door pull cup. Refer to Armrest Pull Cup Replacement .
3. Remove the door trim panel screws from the pull cup support bracket.
4. Disconnect and reposition the electrical connectors.



5. Remove the screw from the upper door trim panel.



6. Remove 2 screws from the door pull handle bracket.
7. Remove the front door trim panel using J 38778 in order to disengage the fasteners from the door inner panel.
8. Remove the upper door trim panel from the front door.

Important: Before installing the front door trim panel to the front door inner panel, the old trim panel retainers MUST be discarded and replaced with NEW trim panel retainers.

1. Install the upper door trim panel to the front door.
2. Install the screw to the upper door trim panel.



3. Install the front door trim panel to the inner door panel.
4. Install 2 screws to the door pull handle bracket.



5. Connect and position the electrical connectors to the pull cup.
6. Install the front door pull cup. Refer to Armrest Pull Cup Replacement .
7. Install the trim bezel to the front door handle. Refer to Door Inside Handle Bezel Replacement .
