Open the tonneau.

Is the tonneau ajar indicator illuminated?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn the ignition ON with the engine OFF.
  3. With a scan tool observe the Tonneau Ajar Switch Signal parameter in the body control module (BCM) Input Data 2 data list.

Does the scan tool display open?

Go to Step 12

  1. Disconnect the folding top lid latch.
  2. Connect a fused jumper between the folding top lid latch ajar signal circuit and a good ground.
  3. With a scan tool observe the Tonneau Ajar Switch Signal parameter in the BCM Input Data 2 data list.

Does the scan tool display open?

Go to Step 5

  1. Connect a fused jumper between the folding top lid latch ajar signal circuit and the folding top lid latch ajar ground circuit.
  2. With a scan tool observe the tonneau ajar switch signal parameter in the BCM Input Data 2 data list.

Test the signal circuit of the folding top lid latch ajar signal circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the BCM. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the folding top lid latch. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open or high resistance in the ground circuit of the folding top lid latch. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the BCM. Refer to Control Module References in Computer/Integrating Systems for replacement, setup, and programming.

Replace the rear compartment lid latches. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid and Fuel Filler Door Release Switch Replacement .

Replace the instrument panel cluster (IPC). Refer to Control Module References in Computer/Integrating Systems for replacement, setup, and programming.
