Close the tonneau.

Is the tonneau ajar indicator illuminated?

Go to Step 3

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn the ignition ON with the engine OFF.
  3. With a scan tool observe the Tonneau Ajar Switch Signal parameter in the body control module (BCM) Input Data 2 data list.

Does the scan tool display open?

Go to Step 4

  1. Disconnect the folding top lid latch.
  2. With a scan tool observe the Tonneau Ajar Switch Signal parameter in the BCM Input Data 2 data list.

Go to Step 5

Test for a short to ground in the signal circuit of the folding top lid latch ajar circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the BCM. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the folding top lid latch. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the BCM. Refer to Control Module References in Computer/Integrating Systems for replacement, setup, and programming.

Replace the rear compartment lid latches. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid and Fuel Filler Door Release Switch Replacement .
