DEFINITION: The windshield wiper motor will not operate in any mode.

Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

  1. Turn ON the ignition.
  2. Attempt to operate the wipers in each mode.

Do the windshield wipers operate in any mode?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

Are the DTCs B3717 or B3718 stored in the body control module (BCM)?

Go to DTC B3715, B3716, B3717, B3718, or B3719

Go to Step 4

  1. Turn the wiper switch to the high speed position.
  2. Disconnect the windshield wiper motor.
  3. Probe the windshield wiper motor high and low speed circuits with a test lamp connected to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate for either circuit?

Go to Step 14

  1. Remove the wiper 2 relay from the underhood fuse block. Refer to Relay Replacement .
  2. Probe the windshield wiper switch signal 2 circuit from the wiper switch with a test lamp connected to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 6

Probe the common switched terminal of the wiper 2 relay with a test lamp connected to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Remove the wiper micro relay from the underhood fuse block. Refer to Relay Replacement .
  2. Probe the windshield wiper switch signal 2 circuit from the BCM with a test lamp connected to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Connect a test lamp between the windshield wiper switch signal 2 circuit from the BCM and the coil ground circuit.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Probe the wiper micro relay voltage supply circuit with a test lamp connected to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Disconnect the underhood fuse block J7 connector.
  2. Probe the windshield wiper switch signal 2 circuit from the BCM with a test lamp connected to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Disconnect the wiper/washer switch.
  2. Probe the wiper switch voltage supply circuit with a test lamp connected to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 15

  1. Remove the wiper diode from the underhood fuse block.
  2. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper between the diode terminals of the underhood fuse block. Refer to Using Fused Jumper Wires .
  3. Probe the windshield wiper switch signal 2 circuit from the BCM with a test lamp connected to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 18

Test the windshield wiper motor high and low speed circuits for an open or a high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Test the windshield wiper motor ground circuit for an open or a high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .
