Auxiliary Battery Cable Replacement TP2 - Positive

Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Disconnect the positive battery cable.
3. Remove the auxiliary battery. Refer to Battery Replacement .



4. Remove the mega fuse from the auxiliary battery tray.
5. Disconnect the positive cable from the TP2 (relay)
6. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.



7. Remove the nut from the positive terminal of the starter.
8. Remove the positive battery cable from the starter.
9. Remove the positive battery cable.

1. Install the positive battery cable.
2. Install the positive battery cable to the starter.

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

3. Install the nut to the positive terminal of the starter.

Tighten
Tighten the nut to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

4. Remove the safety stands.
5. Lower the vehicle.



6. Connect the positive cable to the TP2 (relay).

Tighten
Tighten the nut to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

7. Install the mega fuse to the auxiliary battery tray.
8. Install the auxiliary battery. Refer to Battery Replacement
9. Disconnect the positive battery cable.

Tighten
Tighten the nut to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).

10. Connect the negative battery cable.

Tighten
Tighten the nut to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).

Auxiliary Battery Cable Replacement TP2 - Negative

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the engine sight shield. Refer to Upper Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement in Engine Mechanical 4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L.
3. Remove the bolt anchoring the negative battery cable to the block.
4. Remove the negative battery cable.

1. Install the negative battery cable.

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

2. Install the bolt anchoring the negative battery cable to the block.

Tighten
Tighten the nut to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

3. Connect the negative battery cable.

Tighten
Tighten the nut to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).

4. Install the engine sight shield. Refer to Upper Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement in Engine Mechanical 4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L.

Auxiliary Battery Cable Replacement TP2 - Relay

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Disconnect the positive battery cable from the TP2 (relay). Refer to Battery Cable Replacement - Auxiliary .
3. Disconnect the TP2 (relay) electrical connector.
4. Disconnect the starter lead from the TP2 (relay).



5. Remove the TP2 mounting nuts.
6. Remove the TP2 (relay).

1. Install the TP2 (relay).

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. 2. Install the TP2 mounting nuts.

Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

3. Connect the starter lead to the TP2 (relay).

Tighten
Tighten the nut to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

4. Connect the TP2 (relay) electrical connector.
5. Connect the positive battery cable to the TP2 (relay). Refer to Battery Cable Replacement - Auxiliary .
6. Connect the negative battery cable.

Tighten
Tighten the nut to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).
