DTC Descriptor

DTC B3924: DVD Player Theft Locked

Circuit/System Description

This DTC will set when the rear seat entertainment (RSE) system is switched from the OFF to ON position. The DVD player and audio/video interface module communicate with each other to verify that a security code relayed between the two components is valid. The DTC will pass when the both components acknowledge a matching code.

Conditions for Running the DTC

    • The radio is ON.
    • Battery voltage must be between 9-16 volts.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

    • The RSE system transitions from OFF to ON.
    • This DTCs will set when there is a security code mismatch.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

The system will enter the Theft Detected Mode and "Security Error" is displayed on the screen.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • The condition for setting the DTC is no longer present.
    • The history DTC will clear after 50 fault-free ignition cycles.

Circuit/System Testing

  1. Verify that DTC B3924 is not set and/or "Security Error" is not displayed on the screen.
  2. If the DTC is set and/or "Security Error" is displayed on the screen attempt DVD player to rear seat entertainment interface module auto-learn procedure.
  3. Ignition ON, RSE system ON, select the DVD function for the system, verify that DVD player functions correctly.
  4. If the RSE system fails to function correctly, replace the DVD player.

Repair Instructions

Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification after completing the diagnostic procedure.
