    •  J 45059 Angle Meter
    • J 41816 Crankshaft Balancer Remover
    • J 41998-B Crankshaft Balancer Installer
    • EN 46326 Flywheel Holding Tool

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement - Accessory .
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  3. Remove the power steering gear. Refer to Steering Gear Replacement .

  4. Object Number: 928040  Size: SH
  5. Remove the starter motor. Refer to Starter Motor Replacement .
  6. Install the EN 46326 .

  7. Object Number: 928046  Size: SH
  8. Remove the crankshaft balancer bolt.

  9. Object Number: 928048  Size: SH
  10. Place the remover pilot into the end of the crankshaft.
  11. Install the J 41816 on the crankshaft balancer.

  12. Object Number: 928051  Size: SH
  13. Remove the crankshaft balancer using the J 41816 .

Cleaning and Inspection

Clean and inspect the crankshaft balancer. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Cleaning and Inspection .

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 928051  Size: SH
  1. Position the crankshaft balancer on the nose of the crankshaft.

  2. Object Number: 948118  Size: SH
  3. Press the crankshaft balancer in place using the J 41998-B .

  4. Object Number: 928046  Size: SH
  5. Clean the crankshaft balancer bolt threads.
  6. Apply engine oil to the crankshaft balancer bolt threads.
  7. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  8. Install the crankshaft balancer bolt.
  9. 5.1. First Pass

    Tighten
    Tighten the crankshaft balancer bolt to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

    5.2. Final Pass

    Tighten
    Tighten the crankshaft balancer bolt an additional 120 degrees using the J 45059 .

  10. Remove the EN 46326 .
  11. Install the starter motor. Refer to Starter Motor Replacement .
  12. Install the steering gear. Refer to Steering Gear Replacement .
  13. Install the accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement - Accessory .
  14. Lower the vehicle.
  15. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
