Circuit Description

The VICS circuit board installed in the navigation module (NAV) communicates with the main circuit board in the NAV over a dedicated connection within the NAV case. This DTC indicates an internal fault inside the NAV case.

Conditions for Running the DTC

The vehicle must be equipped with VICS.

The navigation module (NAV) must detect a power mode transition from OFF-ASLEEP to ON.

The navigation module (NAV) does not set this DTC if B1327 or B1328 is current.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

There is no response from the VICS processor when queried by the navigation module (NAV) after successfully initializing the system.

The navigation module (NAV) does not receive information from the VICS processor when the NAV detects a power mode transition to ON.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

The VICS switch disappears from the navigation system menu.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

The navigation module (NAV) receives a response from the VICS processor.

Test Description

The number(s) below refer to the step number(s) on the diagnostic table.

  1. Determines if the malfunction is present.

  2. Verifies that the VICS circuit board is installed correctly in the navigation module.

  1. Turn the ignition to OFF.
  2. Remove the navigation module (NAV). Refer to Navigation Data Processor Replacement .
  3. Check the installation of the dealer installed VICS circuit board. Refer to the VICS dealer installation instructions.
  4. Install the navigation module (NAV). Refer to Navigation Data Processor Replacement .
  5. Use the scan tool in order to clear the DTC.
  6. Turn ON the ignition with the engine off.
  7. Use the scan tool in order to retrieve DTCs.

Important: Make sure that the dealer installed VICS board is installed into the replacement navigation module (NAV).

Replace the navigation module (NAV). Refer to Navigation Data Processor Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 4

  1. Use the scan tool to clear the DTCs.
  2. Operate the vehicle as specified within the Conditions for Running the DTC in the supporting text.

Does the DTC reset?
