Multifunction Turn Signal Lever Replacement - On Vehicle LHD

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 301912  Size: SH

    Caution: This vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause the following conditions:

       • Air bag deployment
       • Personal injury
       • Unnecessary SIR system repairs
    In order to avoid the above conditions, observe the following guidelines:
       • Refer to SIR Component Views in order to determine if you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring.
       • If you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System.

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
  2. Remove the steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement - On Vehicle .
  3. Remove the steering column wire harness tie straps (2).

  4. Object Number: 312291  Size: SH
  5. Disconnect the steering column control module electrical connectors (2).

  6. Object Number: 301919  Size: SH
  7. Open the lower steering column wire harness shield (1) and remove the steering column wire harness (2).
  8. Note the direction of the steering column wiring harness is routed in the lower steering column wiring harness shield for re-installation.

  9. Disconnect the multifunction switch electrical connectors (1,2, and 3).

  10. Object Number: 293235  Size: SH
  11. Remove the multifunction switch retaining screws.

  12. Object Number: 293237  Size: SH
  13. Remove the multifunction switch (1).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 293237  Size: SH

    Important: The electrical contact must rest on the turn signal cancel cam assembly.

  1. Install the multifunction switch (1).

  2. Object Number: 293235  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the multifunction switch retaining screws .
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the multifunction switch retaining screws to 7 N·m (62 lb in).

  5. Connect the multifunction switch electrical connectors (1,2, and 3).

  7. Install the steering column wire harness (2) to the lower steering column wire harness shield (1).

  8. Object Number: 312291  Size: SH
  9. Connect the steering column control module electrical connectors (2).

  10. Object Number: 301912  Size: SH
  11. Install the steering column wire harness tie straps.
  12. Install the steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement - On Vehicle .
  13. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.

Removal Procedure

  4. Remove the steering column wire harness tie straps.
  5. Disconnect the steering column control module electrical connectors

  7. Open the lower steering column wire harness shield (1) and remove the steering column wire harness (2).
  8. Note the direction of the steering column wiring harness is routed in the lower steering column wiring harness shield for re-installation.

  9. Disconnect the multifunction switch electrical connectors (1, 2, 3).

  10. Object Number: 312416  Size: SH
  11. Remove the multifunction switch retaining screws (2).
  12. Remove the multifunction switch from the steering column.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the multifunction switch (1) to the steering column.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application.   12. Install the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement .
  13. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
