J 37043 Parking Brake Cable Release Tool

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 492729  Size: SH
  1. Raise the vehicle and suitably support. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  2. Remove the left rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  3. Pull down on the intermediate park brake cable (2) near the park brake connector (1).
  4. Disconnect the intermediate park brake cable (2) from the park brake cable connector (1).

  5. Object Number: 752029  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the left rear park brake cable (2) from the equalizer (1).

  7. Object Number: 752036  Size: SH
  8. Use the J 37043 in order to depress the left rear park brake cable retainer.
  9. Remove the left rear park brake cable (2) from the left rear park brake cable support bracket (1).

  10. Object Number: 751609  Size: SH
  11. Disconnect the left rear park brake cable (2) from the left rear park brake actuator lever (3).
  12. Use the J 37043 in order to depress the retainer on the left rear park brake cable (2).
  13. Remove the left rear park brake cable (2) from the left rear park brake cable support bracket (1).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 751609  Size: SH
  1. Install the left rear park brake cable (2) to the left rear park brake cable bracket (1).
  2. Ensure that the locking tabs are properly seated.
  3. Connect the left rear park brake cable (2) to the left rear park brake actuator lever (3).

  4. Object Number: 752036  Size: SH
  5. Install the left rear park brake cable (2) to the left rear support mounting bracket (1).
  6. Ensure that the locking tabs are properly seated.

  7. Object Number: 752029  Size: SH
  8. Connect the left rear park brake cable (2) to the equalizer (1).

  9. Object Number: 492729  Size: SH
  10. Connect the intermediate park brake cable (2) to the park brake cable connector (1).
  11. Install the left rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  12. Lower the vehicle.
  13. To ensure that the park brake cable retainers are seated, cycle the park brake pedal 1 to 2 times.
