Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the cooling fan assembly. Refer to Engine Cooling Fan Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 840257  Size: SH
  3. Remove the fan blade retaining nut (1) from the motor.

  4. Object Number: 840254  Size: SH
  5. Remove the fan blade from the motor shaft.

  6. Object Number: 840251  Size: SH
  7. Remove the motor retaining screws (1).

  8. Object Number: 840246  Size: SH
  9. Remove the motor from the shroud.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the motor to the shroud.

  2. Object Number: 840251  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the cooling fan motor retaining screws (1).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 5 N·m (44 lb in).

  5. Install the fan blade to the motor shaft.
  6. Rotate the fan until the fan drops onto the shaft.

  7. Object Number: 840257  Size: SH
  8. Install the fan blade retaining nut (1) to the motor.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 7 N·m (62 lb in).

  10. Install the cooling fan assembly. Refer to Engine Cooling Fan Replacement .
