  1. This step determines if the mirror sensors are capable of sensing mirror position changes.

Did you perform the Door Systems Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Adjust both outside rearview mirrors to your preference.
  3. With the memory switch, set the personalization recall to your adjustments.
  4. Adjust both outside rearview mirrors to an extreme position.
  5. Press the memory button that was previously programmed.

Did both outside rearview mirrors move back to the programmed setting?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

  1. Install a scan tool
  2. Turn On the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. With the scan tool, navigate to the Setting Options screen by making the following selections:
  4. • Dash Integration Module
    • Special Functions
    • Set Options
    • Personalization Option
  5. Follow the on screen instructions to verify that the Personalization Option is activated.

Is the personalization option activated?

Go to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration in Body Control Systems

  1. With the scan tool, observe the Up/Down Sensor and Left/Right Sensor parameters in the appropriate door module Data list.
  2. Use the mirror adjustment switches to move the inoperative mirror to the limits of travel in both the vertical and horizontal directions.

Does the scan tool indicate both the Up/Down and Left/Right sensor parameter values change and are within the specified range?

0.25-5.5 V

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Disconnect the C5 harness connector of the door module associated with the inoperative mirror.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. Measure the voltage of the 5 volt reference circuit at the door module pin.

Is the voltage indicated within the specified range?

4.25-5.5 V

With the scan tool, observe the Up/Down Sensor and Left/Right Sensor parameters in the appropriate door module Data list.

Is the voltage indicated within the specified range for both sensors?

4.25-5.5 V

  1. Install a 3-Amp fused jumper wire between the mirror sensor return circuit and the horizontal sensor signal circuit at the door module pins.
  2. With the scan tool, observe the Left/Right Sensor parameter.
  3. Install the 3-Amp fused jumper wire between the mirror sensor return circuit and the vertical sensor signal circuit at the door module pins.
  4. With the scan tool, observe the Up/Down Sensor parameter.

Did the scan tool indicate the voltage for each sensor was within the specified range?

0-0.5 V

Inspect for poor connections at the C5 harness connector of the door module associated with the inoperative mirror. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the C5 harness connector of the door module associated with the inoperative mirror. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the inoperative outside rear view mirror. Refer to Power Mirror Replacement .

Replace the door module associated with the inoperative mirror. Refer to Door Control Module Replacement .

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
