For 1990-2009 cars only

The ABS components are sensitive to Electromagnetic Interference (EMI). Perform the following checks if an intermittent malfunction is suspected:

    • Check for proper installation of wiring harnesses resulting from add-on options.
    • Visually inspect the wheel speed sensor and the toothed ring for the following:
      • Visually inspect for looseness.
      • Visually inspect for damage.
      • Visually inspect for foreign material accumulation.
      • Visually inspect for proper mounting.
      • Replace any damaged components. Remove any foreign material and properly attach all components.
    • Check for proper routing of front wheel speed sensor wiring away from spark plug wires. Refer to Spark Plug Wire Harness Replacement in Engine Electrical for proper spark plug wire routing. Refer to Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement for proper wheel speed sensor wire routing.
    • Use special tool J 39200 DMM to measure the resistance of the spark plug wires. Refer to Spark Plug Wires Not Operating Properly in Engine Electrical for proper spark plug wire resistance.
    • Monitor the scan tool wheel speeds while test driving the vehicle. Refer to the appropriate wheel speed DTC if any wheel speed drops or displays an erratic speed.
