CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON

The IPC illuminates the CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON message 81 in the DIC, when the powertrain control module (PCM) determines that the engine oil should be changed. The IPC receives a class 2 message indicating the remaining oil life percent from the PCM. After the oil is changed, perform the engine oil monitor reset procedure. Refer to GM Oil Life System Resetting in Maintenance and Lubrication.

CHECK GAGES

The heads up display (HUD) illuminates the CHECK GAGES indicator. The HUD receives a message requesting illumination from the IPC.

The HUD also illuminates the CHECK GAGES indicator when one of the following indicators is illuminated in the IPC.

    • ABS
    • AIR BAG
    • BRAKE
    • Charging System
    • Engine Coolant Temperature
    • Low Fuel
    • Low Engine Oil Pressure
    • TRACTION OFF

ENGINE OIL LOW CHECK LEVEL

The IPC illuminates the ENGINE OIL LOW CHECK LEVEL message 36 in the driver information center (DIC) when the powertrain control module (PCM) detects low engine oil level, and the signal circuit is high.

Km/h and MPH Indicator(s)

km/h: The IPC illuminates the km/h indicator when the IPC detects that metric units have been requested. The IPC monitors the signal circuit of the ENG/MET switch The IPC sends a class 2 message indicating the requested units to the head up display (HUD).

MPH: The IPC illuminates the MPH indicator when the IPC detects that English units have been requested. The IPC monitors the signal circuit of the ENG/MET switch. The IPC sends a class 2 message indicating the requested units to the head up display (HUD).

LOW FUEL

The IPC illuminates the Low Fuel indicator when the IPC determines that the fuel level is less than 16 percent. The indicator is a LED on the fuel gage, IPC receives a class 2 message indicating the fuel level from the powertrain control module (PCM).

LOW OIL PRESSURE

The IPC illuminates the LOW OIL PRESSURE indicator when the PCM detects low engine oil pressure, and the signal circuit is low. The IPC receives a class 2 message requesting illumination from the PCM.

SERVICE VEHICLE SOON

The IPC illuminates the SERVICE VEHICLE SOON when the powertrain control module (PCM) detects certain malfunctions that are not related to the emissions system. The IPC receives a class 2 message from the powertrain control module (PCM) requesting illumination.
