  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Remove the key from the ignition.
  3. Turn the headlamp switch to OFF.
  4. Open the driver door.

Does the chime sound?

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF.
  3. With a scan tool, perform the Display Test in the IPC.

Does the chime stop when you select Off?

With a scan tool, observe the Park Lamp Input in the DIM Inputs data list.

Does the Park Lamp Input parameter display Off?

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Disconnect the DIM.
  3. Connect a test lamp between the park lamp switch on input circuit B+.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Remove the key from the ignition.
  3. Disconnect the HVAC (w/C67) or the instrument panel module (IPM) connector C1 (w/CJ2).
  4. Connect a test lamp between the key in ignition signal circuit and battery positive voltage.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Test the park lamp switch on input circuit for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
