Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the frame brace. Refer to Frame Brace Replacement .
  3. Remove the spare tire assembly.
  4. Remove the rear axle tie rod. Refer to Rear Axle Tie Rod Replacement .
  5. Remove the rear axle brace. Refer to Rear Axle Brace Replacement .
  6. Remove the shock absorber lower mounting bolts and move aside. Refer to Shock Absorber Replacement .
  7. Remove the right rear coil spring, if equipped. Refer to Coil Spring Replacement .

  8. Object Number: 753687  Size: SH
  9. Remove the nuts that secure the muffler to the catalytic converter.

  10. Object Number: 753688  Size: SH
  11. Separate the exhaust system from the exhaust hanger insulators.
  12. Remove the muffler assembly.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 753688  Size: SH
  1. Install the muffler assembly to the vehicle and secure with the exhaust system hanger insulators.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 753687  Size: SH
  3. Install the muffler to the catalytic converter and secure with the nuts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).

  5. Inspect the exhaust system for leaks and underbody contact.
  6. Install the right rear coil spring, if equipped. Refer to Coil Spring Replacement .
  7. Install the shock absorber lower mounting bolts. Refer to Shock Absorber Replacement .
  8. Install the rear axle brace. Refer to Rear Axle Brace Replacement .
  9. Install the rear axle tie rod. Refer to Rear Axle Tie Rod Replacement .
  10. Install the spare tire assembly.
  11. Install the frame brace. Refer to Frame Brace Replacement .
  12. Lower the vehicle.
