If your vehicle is equipped with the AU0 option code, the vehicle also has a factory installed remote function actuation (RFA) system. The RFA system provides the following functions:

    • Locks and unlocks the vehicle doors
    • Locks and unlocks the liftgate
    • Provides interior illumination following an unlock command
    • Opens and closes the power sliding door, if equipped with option code E58
    • Uses the alarm feature to sound the horn, illuminate interior lamps and flash the park lamps

The RFA system operates on a radio frequency that is subject to Federal Communications Commission (FCC) guidelines. Operation is subject to the following 2 conditions:

    • The device may not cause harmful interference.
    • The device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.

Remote Control Door Lock Transmitter

The remote control door lock transmitter is a hand-held device that is powered by a 3.0 Volt lithium battery. Data is transmitted on an RF carrier frequency at 315 MHz. Up to 4 transmitter buttons control the functions of the system:

    • LOCK (upper left)
    • UNLOCK (upper right)
    • Power sliding door (lower right)
    • Alarm, if equipped with option code UA6 (lower left)

The operating range of the transmitter is 1-9 meters (3-29 ft). At times, you may notice a decrease in range. This is normal for any remote control door lock system. If the transmitter does not operate correctly or if you have to stand closer to the vehicle for the transmitter to operate, perform the following steps:

    • Inspect to determine if battery replacement is needed.
    • Inspect the distance.
You may be too far from the vehicle. In rainy or snowy weather, you may need to stand closer to the vehicle.
    • Inspect the location.
Other vehicles or objects may be blocking the signal. Take a few steps to the left or the right or hold the transmitter higher.

Remote Control Door Lock Receiver (RCDLR)

The remote control door lock receiver (RCDLR) is located beneath the instrument panel upper trim. The battery provides all power for the RCDLR through the instrument panel wiring harness. The RCDLR determines which command is sent by the transmitter and then sends the appropriate signal to the body control module (BCM) for the command to be carried out. The power sliding door function is carried out directly by the RCDLR, independent of the BCM.
