DEFINITION: The keyless entry system check tests the body control module (BCM) for the operation of the keyless entry system. For more information regarding other BCM-controlled systems, refer to the Body Control Module in Body Control Systems.

  1. Turn the instrument panel (IP) dimmer switch to the OFF position.
  2. Turn ON the interior lights override switch, enabling the interior courtesy lights.
  3. Remove the key from the ignition key cylinder lock.
  4. Close all of the vehicle doors.
  5. Press once on the LOCK button on the keyless entry transmitter.
    • All of the doors lock.
    • The interior courtesy lights turn off.

Press once the unlock button on the keyless entry transmitter.

Based on the current remote unlock control feature customization mode:

    • Mode 1 (disabled): All of the doors unlock when you press the unlock button on the keyless entry transmitter once.
    • Mode 2 (enabled): The driver door unlocks when you press the unlock function on the keyless entry transmitter once.
        If you press the unlock button again within 5 seconds, all of the doors will unlock.
    • In mode 1 and mode 2, the interior courtesy lamps light for 36-44 seconds.

  1. If the remote unlock control feature customization is in mode 1, skip to Step 4.
  2. Press the unlock button on the keyless entry transmitter again with 5 seconds of Step 2.

All of the doors unlock when you press the UNLOCK button on the keyless entry transmitter once.

  1. If the vehicle is not equipped with the content theft deterrent system (RPO UA6), skip to Step 5.
  2. Press the alarm button on the keyless entry transmitter.

The exterior lights flash and the horn sounds alternately for 2 minutes, or until you press the alarm button on the keyless entry transmitter again.

  1. If the vehicle is not equipped with the power sliding door (PSD), skip to Step 6.
  2. Disable the PSD lockout switch that is located in the overhead console (released position).
  3. Unlock the sliding door.
  4. Press the PSD open/close button on the keyless entry transmitter.

The PSD open/closes.

Remote activation verification feature (RPO UA6 Only):

  1. Remove the key from the ignition key cylinder lock.
  2. Close all of the vehicle doors.
  3. While observing the exterior lights and listening to the horn, press the unlock button on the keyless entry transmitter once.
  4. While observing the exterior lights and listening to the horn, press the LOCK button on the keyless entry transmitter once.
  5. While observing the exterior lights and listening to the horn, press the LOCK button on the remote keyless entry transmitter again, within 5 seconds.

Based on the current remote activation verification mode:

    • Mode 1: Feature disabled. The exterior lights do not flash and the horn does not sound when you lock or unlock the doors using the keyless entry transmitter.
    • Mode 2: The exterior lights flash when you press either the UNLOCK or the LOCK buttons on the remote keyless entry transmitter.
    • Mode 3: The exterior lights flash when you press the UNLOCK on the keyless entry transmitter. The exterior lights flash and the horn sounds when you press LOCK on the keyless entry transmitter.
    • Mode 4: The exterior lights flash when you press UNLOCK on the keyless entry transmitter. The exterior lights flash when you press the LOCK button on the remote keyless entry transmitter once. The exterior lights flash and the horn sounds when you press LOCK on the remote keyless entry transmitter again within 5 seconds.
