DEFINITION: The roof rail courtesy/reading lamps stay ON when the following conditions exist:

    • The roof rail reading lamp switch is OFF.
    • The interior lamps override switch is ON (the interior lights are enabled).

The inadvertent load (battery rundown) protection turns OFF the roof rail reading lamp after 10 minutes. This action occurs after 3 minutes on vehicles with less than 24 accumulated km (15 miles).

Cycle the switch for the roof rail reading lamp between the ON and the OFF position.

Does the roof rail reading lamp turn OFF?

Replace the roof rail reading lamp assembly.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  2. Reinstall any connectors or components that you removed.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position for 6 seconds.
  4. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  5. Remove the BCM PRGRM fuse.
  6. Turn the ignition switch to the ACC position.
  7. The BCM sounds the chime a number of times equivalent to the BCM type installed on the vehicle.

  8. Within 1 second, turn the ignition switch from the ACC position to the LOCK position, then back to the ACC position.
  9. The BCM sounds any DTCs stored.
