DEFINITION: None of the interior lights activate when a door is opened, the instrument panel (IP) dimmer switch is in the DOME position, or any of the interior lighting modes are active.

Was the body control module (BCM) diagnostic system check performed?

  1. Turn the ignition switch from the LOCK position to the RUN position.
  2. Turn the IP dimmer switch to the DOME position.
  3. Use a test lamp in order to backprobe between the BCM connector C1 terminal E and ground.

Did the test lamp light?

  1. Disconnect the interior lamp and the multi-function switch electrical connector C1.
  2. Use a test lamp in order to backprobe between the multi-function switch harness connector C1 terminal 5 and ground.

Did the test lamp light?

Go to Step 4

Use a 10A jumper in order to connect between the multi-function harness connector C1 terminal 5 and terminal 8.

Are the interior courtesy lights on?

Go to Step  6

Repair the following conditions in CKT 1393:

    • A faulty connection
    • An open

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step  9

  1. Inspect the multi-function switch electrical connector C1 for faulty terminal contact.
  2. If the connector is OK, replace the multi-function switch.

Is the repair complete?

Repair the following conditions in CKT 328:

    • A faulty connection
    • An open

Is the repair complete?

  1. Inspect the BCM connector C1 terminal E for faulty terminal contact and repair as needed.
  2. If the BCM connector C1 terminal E is OK, replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  2. Reinstall any connectors/components that were previously removed.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position for 6 seconds.
  4. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  5. Remove the BCM PRGRM fuse.
  6. Turn the ignition switch to the ACC position.
  7. The BCM sounds a chime a number of times equivalent to the BCM type installed in the vehicle.

  8. Within 1 second turn the ignition switch from the ACC position to the LOCK position, then back to the ACC position.
  9. The BCM sounds any DTCs stored.
