DEFINITION: The windshield header courtesy/reading lamps do not activate when the following conditions exist:

    • The interior courtesy lights are on.
    • The windshield header courtesy/reading lamp switches are on.
    • The interior lamps override switch is on (the interior courtesy lights are enabled)

Inspect the filament of the windshield header courtesy/reading lamps bulb(s).

Is there any bulb filament open?

  1. Disconnect the windshield header courtesy/reading lamps electrical connector.
  2. Turn the ignition switch from the LOCK position to the RUN position.
  3. Turn the instrument panel (IP) dimmer switch to the DOME position.
  4. Turn on the interior lamps override switch (the interior courtesy lights are enabled).
  5. Use a test lamp in order to connect between the windshield header courtesy/reading lamps harness connector terminal A and ground.

Did the test lamp light?

Use a test lamp in order to connect between the windshield header courtesy/reading lamps harness connector terminal A and B.

Repair the following conditions in CKT 328:

    • A poor connection
    • An open

    • A poor connection

Replace the windshield header courtesy/reading lamps assembly.

    • A poor connection
    • An open

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  2. Reinstall any connectors or components that were removed.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position for 6 seconds.
  4. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  5. Remove the BCM PRGRM fuse.
  6. Turn the ignition switch to the ACC position.
  7. The BCM sounds the chime the number of times equivalent to the BCM type installed on the vehicle.

  8. Within 1 second, turn the ignition switch from the ACC position to the LOCK position, then back to the ACC position.
  9. The BCM sounds any DTCs stored.
