Primary Brake Indicator or Alarm Inoperative When Parking Brake Is Set

Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.

Is the BRAKE warning indicator on?

Go to Brake Warning Indicator Inoperative

  1. Disconnect the park brake indicator switch.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  3. Connect a fused (3-amp) jumper between the park brake switch harness connector terminal A and ground.

Is the BRAKE warning indicator on?

Go to Step 3

Replace the park brake indicator switch. Refer to Parking Brake Indicator Switch Replacement in Parking Brake.

Has the repair been made and the system rechecked?

--

System OK

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Disconnect the daytime running lamps control module connector C2.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  4. Connect a fused (3-amp) jumper between the daytime running lamps control module connector C2 terminal D and ground.

Is the BRAKE warning indicator on?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 6

  1. Check for a poor connection or an open in circuit 1134.
  2. If OK, replace the daytime running lamp (DRL) control module. Refer to Daytime Running Lights (DRL) Control Module Replacement in Lighting Systems.

Has the repair been made and the system rechecked?

Repair the poor connection or open in circuit 33 between S207 and the daytime running lamp (DRL) control module connector C2 terminal D.

Has the repair been made and the system rechecked?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  2. Set the parking brake.
  3. Release the parking brake.

  1. Disconnect the brake fluid level indicator sensor.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  3. Connect a fused (3-amp) jumper between the brake fluid level indicator sensor harness connector terminal A and terminal B.

Is the BRAKE warning indicator on?

Replace the brake fluid level sensor. Refer to Brake Fluid Level Indicator Switch Replacement in Hydraulic Brakes.

Has the repair been made and the system rechecked?

System OK

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  2. Connect a fused (3-amp) jumper between the brake fluid level indicator sensor harness connector terminal B and ground.

Is the BRAKE warning indicator on?

Repair a poor connection or open in circuit 1450 between the brake fluid level sensor harness connector terminal A and G200.

Has the repair been made and the system rechecked?
