Instrument Cluster Illumination Lamps Inoperative All Illumination Lamps

  1. Disconnect the instrument cluster connector C2.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  3. Using a test lamp, probe between B+ and the instrument cluster harness connector C2 terminal O.

Is the test light on?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the off position.
  2. Disconnect the headlamp and IP lamp dimmer switch connector.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  4. Using a J 39200 DMM, check for continuity on circuit 8 between the headlamp and IP lamp dimmer switch connector terminal H and the instrument cluster harness connector C2 terminal I.

Is there an open in circuit 8?

Go to Instrument Panel Lamps or Vacuum Fluorescent Displays Inoperative in Lighting Systems

Replace the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

Has the repair been made and the system rechecked?

--

System OK

Repair poor connection or open in circuit 1450 between the instrument cluster harness connector C2 terminal O and G200.

Has the repair been made and the system rechecked?

System OK

Repair poor connection, open or short to ground in circuit 8 between the instrument cluster harness connector C2 terminal I and the headlamp and IP lamp dimmer switch connector terminal H.

Has the repair been made and the system rechecked?

  1. Set the headlamp switch to the PARK position.
  2. Set the IP dimmer to maximum brightness.

Do the heater-A/C control illumination lamps come on?

  1. Set the headlamp switch to the OFF position.
  2. Disconnect the instrument cluster connector C2.
  3. Set the headlamp switch to the PARK position.
  4. Set the IP dimmer to maximum brightness.
  5. Using a J 39200 DMM, probe between the instrument cluster harness connector C2 terminal I and ground.

Is the measured voltage within specified values?

9 - 14 V

  1. Check the illumination bulbs and bulb connections.
  2. If OK, replace the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

Repair a poor connection or open in circuit 8 between the instrument cluster harness connector C2 terminal I and S203.

Has the repair been made and the system rechecked?

  1. Check for a poor connection or open in circuit 1450 between the instrument cluster harness connector C2 terminal O and G200.
  2. If OK, replace the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
