DTC Descriptor

DTC P1845: Torque Limit Management

Circuit/System Description

This diagnostic trouble code (DTC) may set if there is an engine torque limitation caused by requested torque higher than the maximum allowable torque.

Conditions for Running the DTC

The engine speed is greater than 40 RPM.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The engine torque output exceeds a maximum allowable torque for 10 minutes.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

DTC P1845 is a type A DTC.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

DTC P1845 is a type A DTC.

Circuit/System Verification

  1. Ignition ON, observe the DTC information with a scan tool. DTC P1845 should not set.
  2. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC to verify the DTC does not reset. You may also operate the vehicle within the conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records data.

Circuit/System Testing

  1. Verify there is not an engine vacuum leak.
  2. Test for a parasitic load on the following components:
  3. • Generator
    • A/C compressor
    • Transmission
    If a condition is found, repair as necessary.
  4. If all conditions test normal, replace the ECM

Repair Instructions

Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification after completing the diagnostic procedure.

    •  Control Module References for ECM replacement, setup, and programming
