Power Steering Pump Replacement 2.4L Engine

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  2. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement .
  3. Position a drain pan under the vehicle.
  4. Notice: Refer to Power Steering Hose Disconnected Notice in the Preface section.

  5. Loosen the hose clamp and remove the supply hose from the power steering pump.
  6. Loosen the fitting and remove the pressure pipe/hose from the pump.

  7. Object Number: 1768646  Size: SH
  8. Remove the bolt from the right front side of the pump.
  9. Loosen the right rear bolt.
  10. Swing the bracket out of the way.

  12. Remove the 2 long power steering pump bolts and remove the power steering pump from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  1. Install the power steering pump and the 2 long bolts.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering pump bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  3. Swing the power steering pump bracket down and install the right front side bolt.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten both of the right side power steering pump bracket bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

    Notice: Refer to Installing Hoses without Twists or Bends Notice in the Preface section.

  5. Install the supply hose and the hose clamp to the pump.
  6. Install the pressure pipe/hose and the fitting to the pump.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the pressure pipe/hose fitting to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).

  8. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement .
  9. Install the accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  10. Notice: Refer to Using Proper Power Steering Fluid Notice in the Preface section.

  11. Refill the power steering fluid. Refer to Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid .
  12. Notice: Refer to Air in the Power Steering System Notice in the Preface section.

  13. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .

Power Steering Pump Replacement 2.0L Engine

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the engine beauty cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement .
  2. Remove the accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  3. Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
  4. Notice: Refer to Power Steering Hose Disconnected Notice in the Preface section.

  5. Loosen the hose clamp and remove the reservoir outlet pipe/hose (1) from the power steering pump inlet (4).
  6. Loosen the fitting and remove the pressure pipe/hose (2) from the pump outlet (3).

  7. Object Number: 1826257  Size: SH
  8. Remove the power steering pump bolts (2, 3, 4) through the pulley holes.
  9. Remove the power steering pump from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the power steering pump to the vehicle.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the power steering pump bolts (2, 3, 4).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering pump bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

    Notice: Refer to Installing Hoses without Twists or Bends Notice in the Preface section.

  5. Install the reservoir outlet pipe/hose (1) and the hose clamp to the pump inlet (4).
  6. Install the pressure pipe/hose (2) and the fitting to the pump outlet (3).
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the pressure pipe/hose fitting to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).

  8. Install the accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  9. Notice: Refer to Using Proper Power Steering Fluid Notice in the Preface section.

  10. Refill the power steering fluid. Refer to Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid .
  11. Notice: Refer to Air in the Power Steering System Notice in the Preface section.

  12. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
  13. Install the engine beauty cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement .

Power Steering Pump Replacement 3.2L Engine

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  2. Remove the engine front shield. Refer to Engine Protection Shield Replacement .
  3. Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
  4. Notice: Refer to Power Steering Hose Disconnected Notice in the Preface section.

  5. Loosen the hose clamp and remove the reservoir outlet pipe/hose (1) from the power steering pump inlet (6).
  6. Loosen the fitting and remove the pressure pipe/hose (2) from the pump.
  7. Remove the power steering pump bolts (4, 5) through the pulley holes.
  8. Remove the power steering pump from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the power steering pump to the vehicle.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the power steering pump bolts (4, 5).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering pump bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

    Notice: Refer to Installing Hoses without Twists or Bends Notice in the Preface section.

  5. Install the reservoir outlet pipe/hose (1) and the hose clamp to the pump inlet (6).
  6. Install the pressure pipe/hose (2) and the fitting to the pump outlet.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the pressure pipe/hose fitting to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).

  8. Install the engine front shield. Refer to Engine Protection Shield Replacement .
  9. Install the accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  10. Notice: Refer to Using Proper Power Steering Fluid Notice in the Preface section.

  11. Refill the power steering fluid. Refer to Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid .
  12. Notice: Refer to Air in the Power Steering System Notice in the Preface section.

  13. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
