  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Connect the scan tool to the Data Link Connector (DLC).
  3. Turn on the scan tool.

The scan tool turns on.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  2. Use a scan tool in order to communicate with the UART serial data line, inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module (SDM), the driver information display (DID), the electronic brake control module (EBCM) (if equipped) and the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).

Communication is established between the scan tool and the UART serial data line modules.

Use a scan tool in order to communicate with the Class 2 serial data line: PCM, pass key III module.

Communication is established between the scan tool and the class 2 serial data line modules.

Use a scan tool in order to communicate with the E+C serial data line: radio.

Communication is established between the scan tool and the E+C serial data line module.
