Was the Body Control Module Diagnostic System Check performed?

  1. Ensure that the key is removed from the ignition cylinder.
  2. Ensure that all the doors are closed.
  3. Press LOCK on either door lock switch.

Do the doors lock?

Use a test lamp in order to backprobe between B+ and the BCM connector C2 terminal C7.

Does the test lamp light?

  1. Leave the test lamp connected from the previous step.
  2. Press LOCK on either door lock switch while observing the test lamp.

Does the test lamp light?

  1. Leave the test lamp connected from the previous step.
  2. Disconnect both door lock switches, one switch at a time.
  3. Observe the test lamp.

Does the test lamp light?

Ensure that the lockout prevention feature was not activated while locking the doors. Refer to Automatic Door Lock Circuit Description .

Repair the poor connection or the open in CKT 195.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Inspect the BCM connector C2 terminal C7 for a poor terminal contact. Repair the terminal contact as needed.
  2. If connector C2 terminal C7 is OK, replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control Systems.

Repair the short to ground in CKT 195.

  1. Close the internal contact.
  2. This causes a ground signal in CKT 194 at all times (terminal A). Replace the door lock switch. Refer to Front Side Door Lock Replacement or Lock Replacement - Sliding Door Front .

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  2. Re-install the connectors/components that were removed.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position for 6 seconds.
  4. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  5. Remove the BCM PRGRM fuse.
  6. Turn the ignition switch to the ACC position. The BCM sounds the chime a number of times equivalent to the BCM type installed on the vehicle.
  7. Turn the ignition switch from the ACC position to the LOCK position and then back to the ACC position within 1 second. The BCM sounds any DTCs stored.
