Was the Body Control Module (BCM) System Check performed?

  1. Remove the key from the ignition key lock cylinder.
  2. Close all vehicle doors.
  3. While observing the door locks, press LOCK, then press UNLOCK on the driver's door lock switch.
  4. While observing the door locks, press LOCK, then press UNLOCK on the passenger door lock switch.

Do all of the doors lock and unlock when using either door lock switch?

  1. Disconnect the RCDLR electrical connector.
  2. Disconnect the BCM connector C2.
  3. Using a J 39200 digital multimeter (DMM), measure the resistance between the BCM harness connector C2 terminal C8 and the RCDLR harness connector terminal E.

Is the resistance within the specified value?

Less than 2 ohms

Go to Step 4

  1. Replace the RCDLR. Refer to Receiver Replacement .
  2. Reconnect the BCM.
  3. Reporgram all transmitters. Refer to Transmitter Programming .
  4. Remove the key from the ignition key cylinder lock.
  5. Close all of the vehicle doors.
  6. While observing the door locks, press once on the lock button on the keyless entry transmitter.
  7. While observing the door locks, press twice on the unlock button on the keyless entry transmitter.
  8. While observing the exterior lights and while listening to the horn, press the alarm button (if equipped) on the keyless entry transmitter.

Does the keyless entry system operate the door locks and the optional alarm?

Go to Step 6

Repair a poor connection or an open in CKT 1455.

Is the symptom still present?

Go to Step 7

Replace the BCM.

Is the symptom still present?

--

Go to Step 7

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  2. Reinstall all connectors/components.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position for 6 seconds.
  4. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  5. Remove the BCM PRGRM fuse.
  6. Turn the ignition switch to the ACC position. (The BCM sounds the chime a number of times equivalent to the BCM type installed on the vehicle).
  7. Within 1 second, turn the ignition switch from the ACC position, to the LOCK position, then back to the ACC position. (The BCM sounds any DTCs stored).

Are any BCM DTC present?
