Was the Body Control Module (BCM) System Check performed?

  1. Remove the key from the ignition key lock cylinder.
  2. Close all vehicle doors.
  3. While observing the door locks, press LOCK, then press UNLOCK on the driver's door lock switch.
  4. While observing the door locks, press LOCK, then press UNLOCK on the passenger door lock switch.

Do all of the doors lock and unlock when using either door lock switch?

  1. Turn OFF the instrument panel dimmer switch.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  3. Remove the BCM PRGRM fuse.
  4. Turn the ignition switch to the ACC position.
  5. 4.1. The BCM sounds the chime a number of times equivalent to the BCM type installed on the vehicle.
    4.2. Now the BCM has entered the feature customization mode.
  6. In order to change the remote unlock control mode, press and release the unlock button on the keyless entry transmitter.
  7. 5.1. The BCM sounds the chime a number of times equivalent to the remove unlock control mode.
    5.2. A transition past mode 2 repeats the sequence starting with mode 1.
  8. Set the remote unlock control to mode 2.
  9. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  10. Reinstall the BCM PRGRM fuse.
  11. While observing the door locks, press once on the UNLOCK button on the keyless entry transmitter.
  12. While observing the door locks, press again (within 5 seconds) the UNLOCK button on the keyless entry transmitter.

In remote unlock control mode 2 (enabled) the driver's door unlocks when you press the UNLOCK button once on the keyless entry transmitter. Within 5 seconds, pressing the UNLOCK button again will unlock all of the doors.

Does the remote unlock control mode 2 function as described above?

  1. Remove the BCM PRGRM fuse.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the ACC position.
  3. Set the remote unlock control to mode 1.
  4. In order to change the remote unlock control mode, press and release the unlock button on the keyless entry transmitter.

  5. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  6. Reinstall the BCM PRGRM fuse.
  7. While observing the door locks, press once on the UNLOCK button on the keyless entry transmitter.

In remote unlock control mode 1, all doors unlock when you press the UNLOCK button once on the keyless entry transmitter.

Does the remote unlock control mode 1 function as described above?

Replace the Body Control Module (BCM).

Is the symptom still present?

Go to Step 6

System OK

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  2. Reinstall all connectors/components.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position for 6 seconds.
  4. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  5. Remove the BCM PRGRM fuse.
  6. Turn the ignition switch to the ACC position. (The BCM sounds the chime a number of times equivalent to the BCM type installed on the vehicle).
  7. Within 1 second, turn the ignition switch from the ACC position, to the LOCK position, then back to the ACC position. (The BCM sounds any DTCs stored).

Are any BCM DTCs present?
