DEFINITION: The following conditions exist:

    • The interior courtesy lamps stay on with all of the doors closed.
    • The instrument panel (IP) dimmer switch is off.
    • The interior lamps override switch is on (the interior courtesy lights are enabled).
    • None of the interior lighting modes are activated.
    • The inadvertent load (battery rundown) protection does not turn off the interior courtesy lights after 10 minutes. This action normally occurs after 3 minutes on vehicles with less than 24 accumulated km (15 miles).

Was the Body Control Module (BCM) Diagnostic System Check performed?

  1. Disconnect the body control module (BCM) connector C1.
  2. Use a J 39200 digital multimeter (DMM) in order to measure the voltage between the BCM harness connector C1 terminal E and ground.

Is the voltage within the specified range?

Less than 2 V

Go to Step  3

  1. Turn off all of the roof rail reading lamps.
  2. Close the sunshade mirror covers.
  3. Use a J 39200 DMM in order to measure the resistance between the BCM harness connector C1 terminal F and ground.

Is the resistance within the specified range?

Infinite

Go to Step  4

  1. Reconnect the BCM connector C1.
  2. Turn the ignition switch from LOCK to RUN, then back to LOCK.
  3. Turn the IP dimmer switch to the DOME position for 10 minutes.

Did the interior courtesy lamps turn off after 10 minutes (or after 3 minutes on vehicles with less than 24 accumulated km)?

Repair a short to voltage in CKT 328 or CKT 1393, as needed.

Repair a short to ground in CKT 690.
