Check the vehicle for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC).

Are there any DTC codes?

Go to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List in Antilock Brake System

Go to Step 2

  1. Disconnect the Electronic Brake Traction Control Module (EBTCM) connector C1.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.

Is the LOW TRACTION indicator on?

--

Go to Step 3

  1. Using a J 39200 digital multimeter (DMM), check for a short to ground in CKT 832.
  2. If OK, replace the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .

Has the repair been made and the system rechecked?

--

System OK

--

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  2. Connect a fused (3-amp) jumper between the EBTCM harness connector C1 terminal A6 and ground.

Is the LOW TRACTION indicator on?

Go to Step 5

A fault exists in the EBTCM or the ABS. Refer to Diagnostic System Check in Antilock Brake System for diagnosis.

  1. Check for a poor connection or an open in CKT 832 between the instrument cluster connector C1 terminal F and the EBTCM harness connector C1 terminal A6.
  2. If OK, replace the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
