Use the following repair procedures in order to repair the following:

    • Push to Seat terminals
    • Pull to Seat terminals
    • Weather Pack® terminals

Some terminals do not require all of the steps shown. Skip the steps that do not apply for your immediate terminal repair. The J-38125 Terminal Repair Kit contains further information.

  1. Cut off the terminal between the core and the insulation crimp. Minimize any wire loss.
  2. For Weather Pack® terminals, remove the seal.

  3. Apply the correct seal per gauge size of the wire.
  4. For Weather Pack® terminals, slide the seal back along the wire in order to enable insulation removal.

  5. Remove the insulation.
  6. For Weather Pack® terminals only, align the seal with the end of the cable insulation.
  7. Position the strip in the terminal.
  8. For Weather Pack® terminals, position the strip and seal in the terminal.

  9. Hand crimp the core wings.
  10. Hand crimp the insulation wings.
  11. For Weather Pack® terminals, hand crimp the insulation wings around the seal and the cable.

  12. Solder all of the hand crimp terminals.

If a procedure calls for repairing a problem in the engine compartment wiring harness, you may have to remove the wiring harness reflective heat resistant conduit and/or tape in order to gain access to the wire. When replacing the wiring harness reflective conduit and/or tape, be certain that the proper high temperature heat resistant reflective conduit and/or tape are used.

Standard wiring harness conduit and/or tape will melt under the extreme high engine compartment temperatures. If the high temperature heat resistant reflective tape is not available at the time of repair, leave the conduit untaped and do not use a substitute. Reinstall the old reflective conduit if no new conduit is available.

Shelby America, Inc. requires that any engine compartment wiring harness repair that contains the heat resistant reflective conduit and/or tape must use the required conduit and/or tape. This will guarantee proper repair and protect the wiring harness from heat and possible damage.

Contact Shelby America, Inc. at (702) 643-3000 for ordering the following parts:

    • Reflective heat resistant harness conduit tape (Reflective Shield)
    • Reflective heat resistant harness conduit (Reflective Tube)

The reflective heat resistant harness conduit comes in 2 diameter sizes:

    • 12.7 MM (½ in)
    • 25.7 MM (1 in)

Specify quantity, length and size at the time of ordering.
