Removal Procedure

Tools Required
    • J 34730 Fuel Pressure Gauge
    • J 41081 Fuel Injector Remover

    Object Number: 626247 Size: SH
  1. Remove the engine dress cover.
  2. Remove the upper plastic wiper arm cowl (1).
  3. Remove the center plastic wiper arm cowl.
  4. Remove the air intake duct.
  5. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief .
  6. Disconnect the fuel injector electrical connector to the vehicle harness.
  7. Disconnect the fuel pressure regulator vacuum hose.
  8. Disconnect the fuel rail ground wire strap.

  9. Release the fuel rail to intake manifold locking tab (8) by pushing toward the center of the intake manifold.

  10. Pry the injector up out of the intake manifold using the J 41081 injector remover between the bottom of the injector and the intake manifold.

    Caution: In order to reduce the risk of fire and personal injury that may result from fuel spraying on the engine, verify that the fuel rail is positioned over the fuel injector ports. Also verify that the fuel injector retaining clips are intact.

  11. Spread the injector retainer clip (3) in order to release the injector from the fuel rail.

    Notice: It may be necessary to release the adjacent injector(s) from the intake manifold to allow increased fuel rail movement for injector access.

  12. Remove the fuel injector assembly (1).

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 168577 Size: SH
  1. Lubricate the new upper (3) and lower injector (2) O-rings with clean engine oil.
  2. Install the O-rings on the injector.
  3. Install the new retainer clip on to the injector.
  4. Install the fuel injector into the fuel rail.
  5. Push the fuel injector in far enough to engage the retainer clip with the machined slots on the rail socket.
  6. A snap will be heard when the injectors on the fuel rail are fully seated.

  7. Push the fuel rail down onto the intake manifold until the locks latch.
  8. Install the injector electrical connector.
  9. Install the negative battery cable.
  10. Inspect for fuel leaks.
    11. 10.1. Turn the ignition ON for 2 seconds.
    10.2. Turn the ignition OFF for 10 seconds.
    10.3. Turn the ignition ON.
    10.4. Check for fuel leaks.

  11. Install the air intake duct (3).
  12. Install the center plastic wiper arm cowl.
  13. Install the upper plastic wiper arm cowl (1).
  14. Install the engine dress cover (2).
