Front Floor Console Compartment Door Latch Replacement Pontiac

The front floor compartment door latch is part of the front floor console compartment bezel.

1. Remove the console seat switches/cover plate. Refer to Console Trim Plate Replacement .



2. Remove the front fastener (1) from console compartment bezel.
3. Remove the armrest bin lid hinge fasteners. Refer to Front Floor Console Compartment Door Hinge Replacement .



4. Remove the fasteners (1) from the console compartment bezel.



5. Lift the rear of the bezel upward to remove from console.

1. Install the console compartment bezel to the console.




Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

2. Install the fasteners (1) to the console bezel.

Tighten
Tighten the fasteners to 1.6 N·m (14 lb in).

3. Install the armrest bin lid hinge fasteners. Refer to Front Floor Console Compartment Door Hinge Replacement .



4. Install the front fastener to the bezel.

Tighten
Tighten the fasteners to 1.9 N·m (17 lb in).

5. Install the console seat switches/cover plate. Refer to Console Trim Plate Replacement .

Front Floor Console Compartment Door Latch Replacement Oldsmobile

1. Open the console compartment door.



2. Insert a flat bladed tool in between the side of the latch and the console compartment door and carefully pry the latch (1) from the mounting stud.



3. Remove the latch (1).

1. Install one side of the latch to the mounting stud (1) on the console compartment door.



2. Using a flat bladed tool carefully pry the other side of the latch (1) on to the mounting stud.
3. Close the compartment door.

Check the latch operation.
